Adamstown - Coláiste Abbain News: Coláiste Abbain parents' association are hosting an evening of traditional music and Christmas carols on Monday, December 10, at 7.30 p.m. in St Abban's Church, Adamstown. Music and choir by members of New Ross District Pipe Band and Colaiste Abbain school choir with supporting guests from the community.

Tickets are €5 each and are available for purchase from the School, Cullens Gala, Cullens Pub and also at the church door on the night. Your support on the night is appreciated.

Christmas Craft Fair

Coláiste Abbáin are holding their Christmas Craft Fair on Thursday evening, December 6, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Free Entry to fair - Items on show will be wreaths, candles, fabric/knitted crafts, Christmas decorations/table centrepieces, buns/cakes, gifts and many many more.

This year trading is open to outside traders along with our own student creations. Looking forward to seeing you all there to enjoy the enterprise and creativity that is vibrant in Adamstown. Santas Grotto will be open from 6 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. Entry to Santa €3. Looking forward to your continued support.

Adamstown Tidy Towns

Adamstown Tidy Towns will be selling traditional handmade Christmas wreaths at the upcoming Coláiste Abbain Christmas Fair on Thursday, December 6, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Holly and dry cone wreaths all €10 each. Your support will be appreciated.

Coffee Break/Bingo

Raheen Family Resource Centre is hosting a Coffee Break and bingo morning for the older members of the community in Adamstown Community Centre on Tuesday, November 27, from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. The cost is €3 which includes tea or coffee and Toast followed by a novel game of bingo. Opened to everybody in the Adamstown community, do come along and enjoy.

GAA News

The AGM of St Abban's Adamstown GAA Club will take place on Sunday, December 2, in Newbawn Hall at 5.30 p.m.

Recycling Collection

The parents' association in Adamstown NS will hold a Clothes Recycling Collection outside the school on Wednesday, November 28, from 9.30 a.m. Your support is much appreciated.

Senior citizen Christmas party

The senior citizens Christmas party will take place in the Horse and Hound on Sunday, December 2, at 6 p.m.

Food/Toy Collection

Raheen Family Resource Centre is organising a collection of non-perishable food items and new toys to be distributed to families in need on our area this Christmas. If you would like to make a donation you can leave items in to Raheen Childcare Centre or to Raheen FRC in the Parish House before Friday, December 7.

Cards

The weekly '30' card game continues in the community centre this Friday, November 30, at 9 p.m. Thanks to the ladies for the tea last week. Catering on the night will be Cait Bradley, Josephine Hendrick and Betty O'Shea; Catering on Friday, December 7, will be Mary Kirwan, Lorna Komsa and Betty Cullen. Proceeds go to parish funds.

Split-the-pot

The next Adamstown National School split-the-pot draw is on Wednesday, November 28. Envelopes costing €2 are available in Cullen's Gala, Adamstown Pharmacy, Brad Óg's Pub and Chipper and in the school. Thanks for your support.

Clothing Collection

Rathgarogue NS parents' association are holding a Fundraising Clothing Collection. Collection times are Thursday, December 6, from 6.30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday, December 7, from 8.30.10 a.m. at Rathgarogue Community Hall.

Rathgarogue School

Scoil Naomh Áine, Rathgarogue are currently accepting enrolments for 2019/20 school year. Please contact the school office at 051 424779 for an 'Application for Enrolment' form. Scoil Naomh Áine, Rathgarogue are holding their annual Christmas Raffle on Monday, December 17. If anybody in the local community would like to purchase tickets please call in to the school.

GAA club AGMs

The Rathgarogue-Cushinstown camogie and Ladies' Football Club AGM will take place on Friday, December 7, at 7.30 p.m. in the clubhouse. All players and paid up members are requested to come along on the night to review our year and put plans in place for 2019. All parents and those interested in becoming involved in our club with our girls are most welcome to come to our AGM.

The Rathgarogue-Cushinstown GAA AGM will take place on Sunday, December 9, at 4 p.m. in the clubhouse. All paid up members are invited to attend and review our successful year and plan for 2019.

Terrerath party

The Terrerath community annual Christmas party will be held on Sunday, December 2, with entertainment and music for the evening. Bingo every Wednesday night at 8 p.m., we would appreciate all support and all are welcome. Every Monday night, our new yoga classes have commenced in the community centre from 7.30-8.30. Open to both male and female. Friday nights - Irish dancing, and Thursdays - Slimming World. The local soccer club also has training sessions from five years upwards. The Hall Committee appreciate everyone using the facilities and help the upkeep of the hall.

Split-the-pot

Please remember split-the-pot is drawn each Sunday following 11 a.m. Mass in St Mary's Church, Cushinstown. Tickets for the split-the-pot are available locally at €2 each.

Soccer Academy

The Shelburne United Underage Academy for boys and girls over-5s to under-eights continues on Saturday morning, for one hour of fun and to learn new skills. If you are interested in sending your little soccer star please text your name and child's name and DOB to 087 9418304. If you are an adult and wish to help out please let us know as well.

Racquetball

Newbawn

Active parish council

Preparations are now well under way for the annual Christmas concert that takes place in the Church of the Sacred Heart Newbawn on Friday, December 14. Tickets for the concert are on sale locally. Even if you buy a ticket but are unable to attend you will be entered for a draw with a first prize of €150 worth of coal donated by Doreen and Mick Delaney and a number of other prizes. A number of spot prizes will also be on offer to be won on the night. All proceeds will go towards the senior citizens party that takes place in the Horse and Hound Ballonaboola on Tuesday, December 11.

Split-the-pot

The split-the-pot venture is still being well supported with an average of €300 paid out to the winner every second Thursday night. Special gift cards can be obtained for Christmas at €10 for a batch of five, to be sent to a friend or relative as a present with a chance to win hundreds of euro. Proceeds from the split-the-pot go towards the upkeep of the local community Sports Ground and church funding. Thanks for the continuing support,

The late Mick Bennett

Much regret was caused around Newbawn and surrounding areas at the passing in Waterford General Hospital on Monday night of one of the oldest citizens from the area. The well known Mick Bennett from the townland of Faree, near Newbawn village, was in his 92nd year, and was in relatively good health till very recently. He is survived by his brother John and sister Mary and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and other relatives and friends to whom sympathy is extended. Burial took place in the new cemetery at Newbaw on Thursday following requiem Mass at midday in the nearby church. May he rest in peace.

Rural social scheme

The rural social scheme is a supplementary programme for low income farmers. Currently there are a number of vacancies to fill. To check if you are eligible or to register your interest in the scheme please contact Margo Hayes or Eileen Furlong. Contact details can be seen on the notice board at the back of Newbawn church. All enquiries will be dealt with in the strictest confidence.

Disney Magic

The Little Sea Musical Society in association with the KSM Concert Orchestra are presenting their 'Disney Magic and Christmas Classics' concerts with performances also by the KSM Young Voices. There will be three locations, Carrig-on-Bannow Community Centre - Thursday, December 6. 8 p.m., St Mary's Hall, Fethard - Friday, December 7. 8 p.m. and Camross Community Hall - Saturday, December 8. 8 p.m.

Dancing at Camross

Liam Mannering will have you all dancing the night away at the December dance which will be held in Camross Ballroom on Friday December 7, with dancing from 9.30 p.m. to midnight. Admission is €10 including the tea.

Caroreigh NS

MR COUSINS AND MS KELLY - A fantastic day was had by all in Caroreigh NS on Friday last, as pupils, staff, parents and members of the wider community gathered to say thanks to Ms Kelly and Mr Cousins for all their work over the years and good luck in their new position as school principals in Glenmore NS and Adamstown NS respectively. Mass was celebrate in the church to begin with followed by entertainment, refreshments and presentation in the school hall. Many thanks to the parents' council for their help with this event.

RACKARD LEAGUE - Congratulations to the Rackard league boys' Football team who qualified for the final of Rising Stars Competition following a hard fought 1-5 to 0-3 win over near neighbours Clongeen.

TAG Bingo

All are welcome to join us Tuesday nights in the TAG centre at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7.30 p.m. This week's winners were jackpot winner Ann Codd €350, 50/50 €62 Louie Roche. Winner of the free books (door prize) was Anne McGee. Well done to all. Next week jackpot €200.

GAA Update

The club will be hosting a race night on Friday, December 7, at the community centre. If you can help with sponsorship or just by supporting the event please talk to any of the clubs officers or players. Any contribution or assistance in this regard would be very welcome.

IFA AGM

The AGM of the Camross IFA will be held on Tuesday, November 27, at 8 p.m. in the new school in Caroreigh. Speakers on the night will be JJ Kavanagh (IFA) and Brendan Moore (Crime Prevention Officer). Existing members and new members are welcome to attend.

History Society journal launch

The Taghmon History Society will launch their 2018 journal in Taghmon Community Centre on Friday, November 30, at 8 p.m. Members may pick up a copy of the journal on the night. The journal will also be on sale for €15. Refreshments will also be served on the night.
