ARDEE CS 1-13

ST KIERAN’S COLLEGE 1-5

Goalkeeper Tiernan Markey produced seven incredible saves as Ardee Community School won the Leinster U16 B title in Hawkfield on Tuesday afternoon.

The Anthony Durnin-managed side were comfortable victors, ultimately, but without their custodian’s heroics before half-time they would most certainly have trailed despite scoring the game’s opening five points.

Midfielder Andrew Wogan, who hit the post with a first-half penalty, struck the match’s crucial score with the first play of the second period, rampaging through and burying sublimely.

Try as they did, St Kieran’s managed only one second-half register when Oisin Bateman finally found a way past Markey following a scramble.

Yet in a game where both attacks dominated, the Deesiders had a clinical edge up front, with Adam Gillespie, Sean Flynn and Leon Myles bagging several impressive notches and Sean Callaghan the focal point at full-forward.

Meanwhile, Wogan put in a dominant display at midfield, hitting 1-3.
