There was widespread shock and sadness at the sudden death of local man John Regan at his home in Spain on Sunday May 8th.

His untimely loss is mourned by his heartbroken wife Christine, and John was a devoted father to their children Suzanne and David and loving grandfather to Emily and Ted.

The popular operations manager at Ballymagarvey Village, John was a talented wedding dress designer, and in recent years had trained as a wedding celebrant.

One couple, whose ceremony he had performed, described John as, ‘the most considerate, gracious, humorous, and kind celebrant’.

"He really made our day remarkably romantic, emotional, and touching and we will never ever forget him,” they said.

A native of Tara Street, Dublin, John made Drogheda his forever home, initially running a busy fruit and vegetable shop in Stockwell Street, before becoming an active member of the local traders associations and chamber.

As one tribute said: “John was loved by everyone who knew him; an absolute gentleman charismatic full of fun and devilment, and always had a glint in his eye.

"l week I have been remembering the fun we had in the 80’s both in Drogheda and weekends away with John being the life and soul of every gathering. John was loved by everyone who knew him. He has made a lasting impression on everyone”.
