Credit where it is due…

Anyone who regularly uses the Grove Hill for a shorter trip into town, or even for an evening stroll, will have noticed how spotless it is these days.

In a town where it’s impossible not to write bad press about the litter problem when it hits national headlines, it is wonderful to see a shining spot in Drogheda, and it’s mainly the work of one man.

Patrick Hanratty has been working with Louth County Council’s Roads Divisions for a few months decided he would make the hill his ‘pet project’ and is enjoying keeping it spic and span, and the public love the results too.

"People keep stopping me and telling me what a difference it makes, and that makes me so happy, and it is all worthwhile,” says Patrick. “You wouldn’t believe the amount of rubbish people dump, and there is all sorts of litter, even needles and things.”

With Drogheda’s recent ratings in the Irish Business Against Litter table, the town could do with more people with Patrick’s attitude!
