There has been widespread disgust following the news that a large quantity of rubbish was dumped at one of the most scenic locations in Co Louth.

Eighteen black sacks of  rubbish along with the remains of a bonfire and a quality of cans and bottles were found  some of them scattered around the bad bend on the Turf Road in Omeath.

Highlight the issue on his social media, Cllr Antoin Watters praised the work of Louth County Council’s litter wardens, noting that evidence with a name and an address had been found and a fine was being sent out.

“Great work from the Louth County Council Litter Wardens,” he said.

Commentators on his post expressed their disgust saying the perpetrators showed “no respect for the beautiful place we live in.”
