Last week saw another successful Walking Bus Expedition undertaken by the children of Scoil Aonghusa, an initiative promoted by the school to encourage increased physical activity and wellbeing amongst its students.

Every Wednesday children, teachers, parents, grandparents and siblings meet at Our Lady of Lourdes Church where they chat and walk together on their way to school, testing out the old phrase, "Two shorten the road" - "Giorraíonn beirt an bothar".

The walking bus is hard to miss, as this neon clad troop, headed by Máistir Aonghus Ó Ruanaidh, make their way up to Sunday's Gate before beginning on their day's activities. Initiatives such as these in the school aim to promote communication, activity and a sense of community among the students.

As the weather improves it is hoped that the Walking Bus will gather pace and grow as the end of term fast approaches. Beir bua Scoil Aonghusa!
