All aboard for the return of the Cú Chulainn Steam Train summer special from Dublin Connolly to Dundalk and back!
Capture the magic of the steam train era, and enjoy a perfect family day out with the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland organised trips.
A steam trip will take place from Dublin to Dundalk along with separate trips from Dundalk to Drogheda return on Sunday August 14th.
Margaret Mallon, Dundalk Railway Heritage Society said: “Join us on board our steam train for a fun day out to the historic town of Dundalk. On arrival in Dundalk at approximately 12:15 you will have just over three hours to explore "The Town" trying out the many cafés, shops and bars as well as exploring the beautifully maintained Dundalk Clarke railway station and the small station museum.”
The highlight of the day is the return journey by steam on the Great Northern Railway. The RPSI is Ireland's only mainline steam operator. The special will be operated by the magnificent steam locomotive No. 85 Merlin.

“Our train has a shop on board selling freshly made sandwiches, tea, coffee and snacks. We also have a full bar on the train serving draught Guinness, beers, wine, prosecco and spirits to enjoy the journey to and from Dundalk.”
If travelling as part of a group - you must make one booking to be seated together. Seating requests cannot be made after. All passengers will be allocated a specific seat for the journey.
“You will receive your tickets by email as soon as your booking goes through. These are you tickets which can be printed off or saved to your device for inspection on the day.”
