St. Fechin’s GAA

Congratulations to the St. Fechin’s Ladies team on winning their first Senior title They defeated Cooley Kickhams in the Winter Cup Final held in Darver last Sunday, the score was 3-9 to 2-4. From the throw-in, it was game on for the Ladies as the ball found its way into the hands of Ceire Nolan who immediately found the net before a minute had passed. Top scorer Rachel Kinch got the second goal for St. Fechin’s and also managed to put the ball over the bar five times. The ball ended up in the net a third time thanks to Shayleen Mc Donagh. Well done to the other girls who sent the ball over. A great win Girls, we are all so proud of you. Other victories during the week went to the U21 Men’s team against St. Brides, the U13 Boys against Roche Emmets and the U14 Girls v Hunterstown Rovers. The Junior Ladies had an impressive win over St Brides in their final league match. They are now on a break for exams (best of luck to them) and their Championship campaign gets underway on June 24th. Both U10 teams took part in a County Blitz in Darver. The U8 Girls hosted teams from Glen Emmets and showed great footballing skills. The U12 Girls also took on Hunterstown Rovers and played a great game. The Maurice Murphy Cup Final against Knockbridge unfortunately did not go St. Fechin’s Hurlers way with the score finishing 0-12 to 2-12. The Senior Men’s team and the U12 Boys were unlucky in their matches against Newtown Blues and there was also a draw between the Senior Men in their match against Naomh Martins. The U12 Camogie team were unlucky against St. Kevin’s but gave a great display and never let up. Some of the St. Fechin’s Hurlers took part in the Puc Fada in Cooley. There was a presentation to the 2021 U15 and U16 Girls teams who received their B Shield Winning Medals and Championship Runner-Up Medals respectively. St. Fechin’s and Louth Ladies player Ceire Nolan did the honours. I hear the breakfast following the presentation was fabulous. The Social Walking group finished up their 8 week session but has decided to continue for the summer months and would love to see some more joining them. For further information, Geraldine at 086-1072018. The St. Fechin’s All Stars continues on Saturday mornings for all Primary School children with additional needs.
