McDermott’s book

The Sean McDermott’s are really marking their 75 years in style. They have complied a small book as part of the year.

It has lots of photos and memorabilia which people have shared with them.

If you are interested in a copy or you know someone who would be, get in touch with the club and they can plan how many copies they need to print. It’s a perfect present for anyone ever associated with the club.

The price is €12 with all proceeds going to the club juveniles fund.

Pick up some Gaeilge

The Irish Conversation Group which meets in Ardee every Thursday morning is based in DeeHub, Market Street. The group offers an opportunity to practice spoken Irish in an informal setting and to learn more words and phrases. Oskars 2022

The Tullyallen Oskars could be back by popular demand. With the success of the 2019 Oskars there is a repeat performance on the cards. The first casting took place last week and the second casting is due to take place on Thursday, 9th June at 7pm in the clubrooms. Contact 086-3203675 if you want to take part. There will be 7 movies screened in 1 night with plenty of glitz and glam on the red carpet. Exciting times ahead for the village!

Cumann na mBunscol School Quiz

Well done to the local lads and lassies who came second in the Cumann na mBunscol Schools’ Quiz for larger schools in the whole of Co. Louth. They did brilliantly, even had to do a tiebreaker and sudden death round to secure second place Well done Oisín O’hUallachain, Senan Byrne, Luke Hurson, Hollie Donoghue & Meadbh Carolan.

Men’s Shed

The Men’s Shed continues to meet up on Tuesday & Fridays 10am to 1pm & the workshop is open every day. Tullyallen Men’s Shed is a dedicated friendly & welcoming meeting place where local men come together & have said on their Facebook page “there’s plenty of laughter, chat & tea, biscuits & even a bit of work thrown in. They are always open to new members; just call in & they will show you the ropes.

Tree Planting Ceremony

The Glen Emmets organized a Tree Planting Ceremony last Sunday in memory of four club people who passed away during the Covid restrictions. Four Oak Trees were planted to honour Ted Russell, Patsy Johnson, Jimmy Murray and Gerry Cassidy. The Glen Emmets said “We are very aware of the burden that restrictions put on bereaved families during the pandemic, and the removal of meeting and talking about them was very difficult” Hopefully the family members in attendance felt comfort in the recognition & love shown for their loved ones.

Wednesday night Bingo continues in the Lounge of the Morning Star. Events kick off at 8pm, why not head on down to the Star, there’s lots of money to be won so get those pencils sharpened & eyes down.

Parish News

The relic of St. Oliver will be at our Masses on Saturday 11th & Sunday 12th of June.

Our Outdoor Mass with Eucharistic procession and Blessing of Graves (Cemetery Sunday) will take place on Sunday 19th of June at 11am. Please spread the word to family and friends.

In our church we have a box into which you may put your envelopes, Sunday Collection, Holy Land Collection, Easter Dues etc. as you enter/leave church. Trócaire boxes can still be returned in the basket located in the sanctuary of the church at Mass times. Your support and help is gratefully appreciated. Keep an eye out for local lady Mary Gantley who has just released her first single on Spotify, Deezer, I-Tunes Tic Toc, whichever forum you use, Mary will be there. The single called “Hanging in My Room”, those of you on those forums know what to do, our Mary is a massively talented lady, so show your support if you can.

FAI Soccer Summer Camp

The FAI Rossin Rovers summer camp is due to take place Monday 11th July to Friday 15th July from 10am to 1pm daily. This is for boys and girls aged 6-14 and costs €70.00. Tullyallen Sports Day

The Sport’s Day is due to be held on the 12th of June 2022. This is a great opportunity for the entire community to come together and raise much needed funds for our school. Please show your support if you can. The word has gone out for volunteers to help this hard working group of parents. This day as always is a great family fun day and it’s hoped that this year’s Sports Day will prove no different. Pilates

Pilates classes are on for every level of fitness on Tuesdays and Fridays from 10am to 11am in the Glen Emmets Clubrooms. Classes are on a pay as you go basis and cost €10. Attend 8 classes and the 9th is free. Contact Dee on 087-6798795 for further details or to book your spot.

Gaelic4Mothers & Others

Fancy the chance of getting out, getting active, and maybe even reliving some of those former glory days! Gaelic4Mothers & Others is a way of introducing mothers and other women to playing ladies Gaelic football. Gaelic4Mothers & others encourages women to play ladies Gaelic football in a fun, non-competitive and social environment, while it’s also an opportunity for women to get their recommended weekly exercise in a fun way while meeting other mums in the area. ‘Away Jersey’ Competition Returns

The popular ‘Away Jersey’ competition for the Glen Emmets is taking place again this year. All you have to do is take a photo of you or your child in a Glen Emmets Jersey from any part of the world and send to pro.glenemmets@gmail.com with the name, location, and any other relevant details. The winner gets some GAA gear, it’s all a bit of fun and it’s great to see all the Emmets represented all over the world.

Marie Keating Mobile Unit

The Marie Keating mobile unit will be outside Tullyallen Pharmacy on the 16th of June for anyone who has concerns they might like to discuss. The mobile information unit is stocked with take-home information leaflets and packs on the various cancers. The Marie Keating Foundation nurses can talk to people in a private area on board the unit about any concerns that they may have about cancer, either for themselves or for someone else such as a family member or friends. But the Pharmachy would stress that if you have any immediate or pressing concerns to contact your GP rather than waiting.

Glen Emmets results

Well done to the Under 17 team who took on Mattock/Hunterstown last week in Division 2. Full time was Glen Emmets 3-13 Mattock/Hunterstown 0-9

Great result for the Men’s adult team who took on Na Piarsaigh last Friday night in Division 3A. The full time result was Glen Emmets 4-14, Na Piarsaigh 0-06. Well done lads.

Great to see the shop up and running in Cusack Park. They’ll be on hand serving tea, coffee, hot chocolate and treats. They would like to say a huge thanks to Declan Donoghue for wiring, Andrew Mooney for supplying the worktop, Jack Carolan for plumbing, steelwork, roofing & shelving, Joey Carolan for lots of stuff!
