Ardcath Tidy Towns

The Tidy Towns Committee can be contacted on +353 87 835 4805 and the help from our volunteers is always appreciated!

Ardcath Tidy Towns are getting some Hi Vis Vests printed. If you are interested in Litter Picking on an individual basis or as part of a Tidy Towns, let us know the quantity and sizes of vests required. The sizes available are Small, Medium, Large, Extra Large, 2 Extra Large & 3 Extra Large. Message us on Facebook or Text/WhatsApp +353 87 835 4805.

A tremendous amount of weeding was carried out by volunteers in Clonalvy over the past few days. Keep a lookout for Geum, bluebells, primroses and cow slips which are in full bloom and much appreciated by our Bumblebees.

First Responders

Ardcath Clonalvy Community First Responders (CFR) Group are now recruiting volunteers to join our team. As a CFR you along with your CFR partner will attend a medical emergency (Stroke/Choking/Chest Pain/Cardiac Arrest) in the critical time before the National Ambulance Service (NAS) arrives. Your role is to help stabilise the patient and provide vital care until the NAS arrives to take over.

No previous medical experience required as you will be trained in all vital lifesaving skills. This training is also aimed at past members who would like to renew their training.

Bike and Treats Day ! On the 2nd May we celebrated Chloe and Ciarán’s First Holy Communion. As part of Active Week, Garda Denis Motherway gave a road safety and bike maintenance talk. We then spent the day practicing our cycling skills and competing in races.

The annual devotions and blessing of the graves will be held on the weekend of the 11th June. Saturday 10th June at 5pm Crossmacole Cemetery. Saturday 10th June St. Mary’s Abbey after the Vigil Mass. Sunday 11 June at 1pm Holy Cross and Good Shepherd Cemeteries.

Book Club

Duleek Adult Book Club meet on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 5.30pm in Duleek Library. Participants can meet with other book lovers for discussions on different reads and to swap book recommendations. New members are always welcome but check with library staff regarding available spaces.

Julianstown Tidy Towns

Volunteers strimmed along the wall beside the Community Garden and then mowed the grass. 2 Chestnut trees have been planted at the woods in the centre of the village and the new bug hotel is being constructed in the community garden. The last ton bag of compost was emptied into the 4 new raised begs. Many thanks to Robert Ward for collecting the 3 ton of compost for us. We have 12 large flower beds and if you have any spare time on a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday, perhaps you might like to come along and give a hand with weeding and clipping back shrubs.

Julianstown Golf Course and Pitch & Putt

Have you got back into the swing of things yet this season? They are open 7 days a week from 8am. And the best thing is you don’t need to pre-book your round, so you can just drop in when you want to play.

East Meath Active Retirement Association (EMARA) meet every Thursday in St. Mary’s Church of Ireland Parish Rooms, Laytown Road, Julianstown from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm each week. New members are always welcome to join this vibrant group of men and women.

The Charity Collection for May will go to SOSAD Drogheda. Here are some details about SOSAD, taken from the website: “Since 2007, SOSAD has worked to raise awareness and help prevent suicide in Ireland. We have worked tirelessly in our communities to help those in need feel supported and know they are not alone on their journey. SOSAD offer support and services for people who are struggling with suicidal ideation, self harming, depression, bereavement, stress and anxiety, or if you simply need to talk”.

The Charity Collection in June will be for Habitat for Humanity and we look forward to hearing from Jenny Williams who leads the organisation in Ireland and will speak to us on Sunday 4 th June.

Aisteoirí na Bóinne Drama group generously gave the parish €1330 as the result of the drama evening in February. Thank you to everyone concerned for their generosity.
