It is understood that work on the construction of a new Bus Shelter outside the Credit Union Offices on the Big Street will begin in September. Louth Co. Council has given approval for a number of new Bus Shelters to be constructed locally which will be very welcome for those who use the 168 Bus Eireann Service which serves Termonfeckin.

Railway Fencing

Iarnrod Eireann has erected secure fencing on one side of the railway bridge at Milltown in order to enhance safety and prevent trespassing on the railway line. The fencing is along the stone wall of the bridge on a passageway into a field and it is expected that similar fencing will be erected along a field passageway on the other side of the bridge. There has been heavy littering at the bridge and a few months back it looked like a drinking party took place along the line as well as evidence of the remains of a fire along the embankment.

St. Fechin’s GAA

As usual there are plenty of fixtures for the various St. Fechin’s teams. The Senior Hurlers face Knockbridge in the Final of the Senior Hurling Championship next Sunday August 7th in Dunleer. The very best of luck lads, you can do it. The recent Louth Ladies Senior Championship Draw has the St. Fechin’s Ladies in Group 3 along with Newtown Blues and St. Mochtas. The Minor Football team is continuing preparations for the upcoming Championship. Last week was also a busy one for the Club as the annual Cul Camp took place.
