Frank Pentony R.I.P.

Deepest condolences are offered to the family, relations and friends of Frank Pentony, Baltray, Ayamonte, Spain and formerly Zimbabwe. Requiem Mass was in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Termonfeckin and the Funeral in St Peter’s Cemetery, Drogheda. May he rest in peace.

Religious Ceremonies

Details of all Masses and other religious ceremonies are in the Parish Bulletin and on the facebook page. Eucharistic Adoration from the Church of the Immaculate Conception is on Monday evenings from 7 to 8pm. Adoration is also from the Oratory on Fridays from 11am to 6pm via the internet only. Mass from the Church of the Assumption in Sandpit is now online following the installation of a webcam. A Loop System for those who use a hearing aid is available in both Parish Churches. The wearing of masks, use of sanitizers and respecting safe distances is still strongly encouraged. The Alpha Series continues on Monday evenings from 7.30pm to 9pm. If anyone would like to participate, please email alphatermonfechin@gmail.com A link will then be sent via email or WhatsApp. As May is the Month of the Rosary, praying of the Rosary is taking place this month at the Grottos around the Parish. This Thursday May 19th, the Rosary will be prayed at the Grotto in Baltray at 7.30pm.

Confirmation/First Communion

Congratulations to the children from Scoil Naomh Feichin. who received the Sacrament of First Holy Communion over the weekend. No doubt they all enjoyed their special day. There will be more special days this month for the children of both Parish Schools as they receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. The Children from Scoil Mhuire gan Smal (Sandpit) will receive the Sacrament on Saturday May 21st while it will be the turn of the children in Scoil Naomh Feichin on Saturday May 28th.

Eco Toilets

The Portaloos have gone but new Eco Toilets are being installed at Seapoint Car Park. Given the amount of visitors to the beach, these new toilets are very necessary. There are two of them, both with wooden exteriors and with air circulation features. They both accommodate male and female users and those with disabilities. They are a very welcome addition to facilities at the beach.

Termonfeckin ICA

Termonfeckin ICA Guild members meet on the first Wednesday of each month in the Termonfeckin ICA Room, An-Grianan. Members enjoyed a very informative Spring Gardening Course. Craft Classes continue on Monday afternoons. Members are also looking forward to attending the Bloom 22 Garden Festival in the Phoenix Park, Dublin from June 2nd to June 6th. The next Guild meeting is arranged for Wednesday June 1st at 8pm. New members are always welcome.

An-Grianan

An-Grianan is offering a Midweek Break by the Sea from June 14th to 16th. The annual Garden Party is from June 24th to 26th. The Cookery School is offering a mid week course from June 14th to 16th - Good Mood Food Made Easy. The Irish Harp Festival takes place from June 30th to July 2nd. July 22nd to 24th is Best Friends Weekend with lots of great activities. A Family Fun Package is being offered from August 16th – 18th. There are plenty of private function bookings and many ICA County Federations are booking weekly and weekend events during the different months. The Garden Centre Opening Hours are Monday-Saturday 10am-5pm, Sundays from 1pm-5pm.

St. Fechin’s GAA

A busy week again for the different teams. Louth Hurlers have made it to the final of the Lory Meagher Cup following a 2 point victory over Leitrim. They face Longford in the final.The very best of luck in the final. The U10 Girls hosted a Blitz which was attended by Newtown Blues and St. Kevins and all showed great footballing skills. Some St. Fechin’s girls were part of the Louth Camogie U14 Development Squad and had two wins out of two in an Ulster Blitz held in Armagh. In the Division 1 League, St. Fechin’s had a 5 point loss to Mattock Rangers also lost to Kilkerley in Division 5 of the League. The Minor team were also unlucky in their match against St. Joseph’s in the Eastern Regional League Final. Their next match is against Ardee St. Mary’s in the League opener. The St. Fechin’s All Stars continues on Saturday mornings for all Primary School children with additional needs and is proving to be very popular. Gaelic 4 Mothers & Others continues on Tuesday evenings from 8-9pm. Social football for Dads and Lads is on Monday evenings from 8.15 to 9.15pm. Meanwhile St. Fechin’s will hold an inaugural Half Marathon on July 17th.

St. Fechin’s Lotto

There was no jackpot winner. The numbers drawn were 16, 17, 21 and 24. The €100 winner was Christopher Whelan. €20 winners were Ralph Jordan, Gerard Meegan, Kerry Brady, Margaret Murphy and Patricia Duff. The Lotto this week is worth €1,700. Thanks as always to Madden’s Centra for their very valued sponsorship and to all who support the Lotto. Tickets are available in the Post Office, at the clubhouse gate or on the online lotto app.

St. Fechin’s Community Centre

Yoga on Mondays with Louise from 9.30am to 10.30am. Slimming World with Paula is on Tuesdays from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. Wednesday is a very busy day with Gentle Yoga from 10.30am to 11.30am with Linda. Jacinta and her team hold Fit Kids and Fit Teens and Hip Hop Dance classes starting at 4.30pm for children aged 4 to 16. Up to 7 years is at the earlier time and over 7’s at 5.30pm. Vinyasa with Linda is from 7.30pm to 8.30pm. Linda also holds a Yoga Class on Saturday mornings at 10.30am. On Thursdays, Geraldine and Michelle host a Healthy Club event starting with a 1 km walk on a safe path around the pitches and finishing with a cuppa and a chat in the Centre. There are only a few weeks left so come and join them and make new friends. Everyone is welcome and this event is FREE of charge. On Fridays, Women’s Weights Class with Sara takes place at 9.45am. The health benefits to this workout are many. Lingotot is teaching primary children a language in a fun way. Classes are 5pm to 6pm with Elena. There’s Cora Gaeilge taking place every Friday evening at 8.30pm. Everyone is welcome. Seapoint Pitch & Putt

Seapoint P&P held their prestigious Scratch Cup on Monday May 2nd and the Club would like to thank all participants, in excess of 160 players attended.The winner was Cloghogue’s Conor O’ Hare whose stunning 89 was matched by Killineers reigning All Ireland Champion Ian Donnelly with Conor winning on the back 18. Seapoint P&P did not hold a competition over the weekend as members were playing in various Leinster competitions.Well done to Kevin Carter and Gary Coyle who qualified in the Inter Grade on Sunday and belated congratulations to John McDonnell on winning the Regional Board Inter Grade the previous week. Seapoint will hold a Club 18 Nett competition next Friday and Saturday at 1.00pm.

Next Sunday Seapoint will host a trial for the Louth Senior team at 9.30am. Consequently the course will be open for green fees all week with the exception of Friday and Saturday from 1.00pm to 4.15pm and Sunday 9.30am to 12.30pm.

Tredagh Boxing Academy

Community Hall

The Community Hall on the Sheetland Road can be hired for different events and activities. A 6 Week Golf Beginner Course for Ladies hosted by PGA Pro David Carroll is currently underway at Seapoint on Monday evenings from 7-8pm. Meanwhile Seapoint Club will host Junior and Intermediate Scratch Cup competitions on June 6th. Open Singles continue on Tuesdays at Seapoint. A Titleist Fitting Day takes place on Friday May 30th. Fittings are strictly by appointment only.
