Traditional music at the Castle

Filming is now well underway for the Slane GFC Oscarz 2022 which takes place in the City North Hotel on Saturday October 15th. This is the club’s biggest ever fundraising event and tickets at €25 can be had from any member of the club committee or by messaging the club’s social media pages. They are also on sale from The Hub and Slane Credit Union. Buses will be running to and from the event but seats must be booked in advance. The bus leaves Slane at 6.30, picking up at Dolly’s on route. The cost is €15 return and to book contact Eanna 086 8922296.
The Love/Hate group have organised a Rock N Roll Bingo Loco in the Village Inn on Sunday, October 9th at 6.30pm with DJ Keith Shanley. Great prizes and great craic with tickets available at the door.
The club have a five miles run starting and finishing at Toddy Harding Park, on Sunday October 9th. The run, starting at 11am, will take runners from Monknewtown across to the Newgrange loop taking them past the ancient wonders of Newgrange and Knowth and back to the club grounds where full shower and changing facilities are available with ample parking. Entry fee is €20 per person with registration online at www.justrunsevents.com
Numbers drawn in the club lotto on September 21st were 5, 11, 13, 16. There was no winner and the jackpot is now €2675. The spot prize winners were Killian Hurley, Kadie Hanratty, Stacey Wogan, Jake Harrop.
Slane Spinners Cycling Club recently held their annual Spinathon in aid of Slane Meals on Wheels and despite the bad weather on the day a total of €525 was collected for the organisation. The club would like to thank Dermot Smyth of Slane Pharmacy and Des Smyth from Centra, also Maria Galligan for the treats and to Ruth McKeever for the soup and sambos. Also a big thank you to all who donated on the day.
The club have leisure spins every Sunday morning leaving the square in Slane at 9am and everyone is welcome. They are also starting Turbo Training classes in the Youth Cafe on Thursday October 13th for the winter months. For further information contact Barry on 087 9469047.
The St Patrick’s Day Joker Draw is held every Sunday night at 8pm in Lynch’s Bar. Envelopes are available to buy in any of the shops or pubs in the village as well as The Hub, €3 for one week, €20 for seven weeks. Last weeks jackpot was over €4,300. Proceeds of the draw go towards the St Patrick’s Day Parade in the village in 2023.

Get the thinking caps on. The Fr. Ted Team taking part in the upcoming OsKaRs are organizing a table quiz in the Morning Star, Friday 7th October at 8pm. Fr. Ted fancy dress is optional but there will be a prize for the best dressed, so it would definitely be worth coming on down for the craic alone. A table of 4 people costs just €40 and there promises to be lots of entertaining surprises on the night.
The Men’s Shed continues to meet up on Tuesday & Fridays 10am to 1pm & the workshop is open every day. Tullyallen Men’s Shed is a dedicated friendly & welcoming meeting place where local men come together & have said on their Facebook page “there’s plenty of laughter, chat & tea, biscuits & even a bit of work thrown in. They have been welcoming new members in recent times and are open to new members; just call in & they will show you the ropes.

Irish Dancing in the Village
Nally School of Irish Dancing is returning to the village again this year. Why not get fit & have fun and make friends through Irish Dancing. Classes are starting back on Thursday 22nd September. Great Win for the Minors
A great result for the minors last Saturday. They took on Baile Talun in the B Championship Semi-Final held in Clan Na Gael Park, Dundalk. Our lads came away with the win. Glen Emmets 0-16 Baile Talun 1-09. It’s on to the final when the whole village will be cheering them on.
Well Done Eric
What a week for the village. Tullyallen was cheering on Eric Donovan at the weekend when he was crowned European Union Super Featherweight champion after his win over Khalil El Hadri in Belfast Saturday night. It was a hard fight, but he came away victorious when all 3 judges gave their unanimous decision on the night. Eric’s Tullyallen family were all ringside cheering him on for his well-deserved victory. Well done, Eric.
