Come and try Women’s Social Volleyball on Bettystown beach this Thurs. 11th August at 6-7pm! This one-hour beach activity is an introduction to beach volleyball for women 18yrs+ and all fitness levels. In a social setting the main emphases are on fun and inclusion with no previous experience required. Led by a qualified instructor, this is an ideal opportunity for women to try out a new sport and gain new skills!

Drogheda Presbyterian Church

Bible club for all in primary school. Tuesday 16th to Thursday 18th August, 10:30am -12:30. The three mornings will be packed full of games, crafts, Bible stories, songs and snacks. This is a free event and registration is open via the calendar on the church website.

Community Fun Day to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the church being at Colpe Road is on Saturday 20th August, 2-5pm. An afternoon of food, Music, Games and Fun Activities, All Welcome; Please check out the Church Facebook page for further details.

Laytown P & P Club

The annual Open Scotch Foursomes takes place from this Wednesday 10th August and continues until Sunday 14th August. Play each day from 10a.m. until dusk with last card on Sunday at 5p.m. Prizes for Ladies, Gents and Mixed grades. Hot and cold refreshments available all day every day. The car park will be monitored at all times.

Beach Orienteering

Introducing Meath’s very first Beach Orienteering Event in Laytown as part of HER Outdoors Event this Thursday 11th August from 4-6pm. This Come & Try beach event aims to get more women and girls active in the great outdoors and is suitable for complete beginners.

Orienteering is a fantastic outdoor activity that combines running/walking with the aim of navigating the course using a traditional map or a virtual MapRun app. The fun inclusive event is suitable for all the family and a great way to experience a new beach activity.

This event is for families and in particular Women & Girls/ Mums & Daughters but is open to all.

Temporary Closure of Eastham Road (R-150-26), Bettystown, Co. Meath. Closure will be 24hrs daily between the 8th August and the 22nd August 2022. https://bit.ly/3z8cxsU

Knock Pilgrimage

Meath Diocese Pilgrimage to Knock takes place this Sunday 14th August–led by

Bishop Thomas Deenihan. The Anointing of the Sick takes place in the Basilica at 2.30pm and Mass is at 3.00pm. The Rosary procession will follow outside, weather permitting. A bus will be departing from Mornington. Call 041 9827384 for details.

East Meath Meals on Wheels

Hot Meals are delivered to your home between 12.30pm and 1.30pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday of each week throughout the year, excluding bank holidays in the areas of Laytown, Bettystown, Mornington, Donacarney and Colpe. Bettystown Tidy Towns

A beautiful Saturday morning to be out enjoying the sunshine. The BTT volunteers took full advantage of the nice weather and weeded and swept the footpath along the full length of the Triton Road. The streets, village square, beach and dunes were litter picked and the planters were watered. The grass, nettles, briars and thistles overgrowing the footpath on the Golf Links Road were cut back so local residents can safely use the paths. A great morning’s work by these committed volunteers.

Charity Bridge

Charity Summer Bridge continues on Tuesdays at 7.30pm in Laytown/Bettystown Golf Club and each Tuesday throughout the summer. New players welcome. Proceeds to East Meath Meals on Wheels.

Parent & Toddler Group

The East Meath Family Resource centre have a Parent & Toddler group each Thursday from 10a.m. until 12noon at 5 Strand Haven Laytown. For further information ring 041 9812230 to reserve your place- limited places available.

Back to School Government Support

School Transport Ticket: Anyone who has applied for and receives a school transport ticket for the academic year 2022/23 will not be charged a fee for their school bus ticket this year. This will provide families with savings of up to €500 on the cost of tickets.

Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance: Is being increased by €100 for each eligible child under the scheme. Consequently, the amount being paid for each qualified child aged 4 – 11 years will be €260 and the rate payable for each eligible child aged 12 and over will be €385.

This is a one-off measure for 2022 to assist families with back to school costs in the current year.
