Heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Emma Sweeney, Rockfield Close, Ardee and formerly of Braganstown, Castlebellingham, Co Louth. who left this earth last week, June 8th 2022. Emma, much loved and devoted mother of Oran, loving daughter of Jimmy and Mary (nee Culligan), and dear sister of Claire, Barry and Fiona. Emma will be sadly missed by her heartbroken son, parents, brother, sisters, brothers-in-law Brian and sister-in-law Lisa, partner Pat, niece Isabelle and nephew Jamie, uncles, aunts, Cousins relatives and friends.

Emma was an amazingly beautiful person, inside and out, May she rest in peace.

Dunleer Golf Society

Hollywood Lakes Golf Club was the venue for the visit of 31 members of the Dunleer Golf Society on Saturday 4th June 2022. The course was in great shape and as always a great test of stamina for those walking the 18 holes. Captain Jim Sweeney was the overall winner with 39 points and a “long distance” eagle.

Alan and Lorraine Shearman, Shearman’s Inn Dunleer, were the sponsors and Alan presented Jim with the Overall prize at the Presentation that evening.

The other results were as follows:- 1st Cat 1 Declan Martin 35pts, 2nd Cat 1 Martin Sheridan 34pts, 3rd Cat 1 Nicky Malone 33pts, 1st Cat 2 Jeanne Connolly 36pts, 2nd Cat 2 Johnny Smyth 34pts, 3rd Cat 2 Tommy Shiels 34pts. Longest Drive Eric White, Nearest the Pin Peter Grogan, 2’s Paul Flanagan, Johnny Smyth and Paddy Brady.

Ardee GC will hold the next outing on Saturday July 9th 2022 and will be sponsored by Gerry McEvoy Windows of Dunleer. The outing celebrates Paul Flanagan’s Presidents Day and we hope the day will be well supported by all members.

Dunleer AC 4 Mile Road Race

The Dunleer 10th 4 Mile takes place on Sunday July 10th 2022 at 3pm. Entry is €20 and includes a T-Shirt. There are prizes for Senior, Junior, 040, 050, 069 Men and Women, Club Team prizes-Men and Women. Men’s Shed

The Men’s Shed continues to meet up on Tuesday & Fridays 10am to 1pm & the workshop is open every day. Tullyallen Men’s Shed is a dedicated friendly & welcoming meeting place where local men come together & have said on their Facebook page “there’s plenty of laughter, chat & tea, biscuits & even a bit of work thrown in. They are always open to new members; just call in & they will show you the ropes.

Oskars 2022

It’s all systems go for the Tullyallen Oskars 2022. The final casting took place last week and role announcements will take place during June. Rehearsals are set for September, Filming in October and the Oskars night will be in City North 11th November 2022. There will be plenty of glam and glitz like only the food folk of Tullyallen can do. It promises to be an eventful time for us all.

Bingo

Wednesday night Bingo continues in the Lounge of the Morning Star. Events kick off at 8pm, so head on down to the Star, there is lots of money to be won so get those pencils sharpened & eyes down.

Clubrooms Space

Attention all Yoga, Core, Dance, Art Teachers etc. The Glen Emmets in the village have fine clubrooms that are available for rental some mornings & evenings. The 116 sqm room is bright, spacious, has wooden floors, doors out to the balcony, so it can be well ventilated if needed, there are kitchen facilities, toilets & lots of parking. Parish News

We are currently seeking Ministers of the Word. This Ministry at present involves Ministering the Word of God at Mass on a rota basis on a Saturday evening 7.30pm or Sunday morning 11am, on Holy Days of Obligations and Liturgical Celebrations such as Christmas & Easter. You will receive your preferred day/time on weekend Masses. New Ministers will receive a Missal with all readings in it. We would like to continue to grow our Ministry of the Word Group and to develop more opportunities for people becoming involved in our Parish Liturgical Life. A warm welcome and support will be there too. If you feel you can help and become a Minister of the Word for our Parish, please contact us before Sunday 19th of June in a number of ways: 1. Fr. In our church we have a box into which you may put your envelopes, Sunday Collection, Holy Land Collection, Easter Dues etc. as you enter/leave church. Trócaire boxes can still be returned in the basket located in the sanctuary of church at Mass times. Your support and help is gratefully appreciated. Glen Emmets Champions

The victorious Tullyallen Schools Team were applauded onto the pitch by the adult team at half time on Saturday night. The Under 13’s team were in Stabannon on Saturday morning and thanks to all their effort, dedication and skill they are now the Louth school champions. Well done to all the players and mentors on this magnificent win.

Emmets Shooting aiming for the Finals

At the time of going to print the Glen Emmets had 3 teams in Semi Finals. The Under 14 Girls V St. Fechins on Monday, The Under 16 Girls in C Championship Semi Final Wednesday night V St. Marys, Ardee and the Under 12 Boys in Division 1 League V Cooley Kickhams on Friday night. Fingers crossed we will have news of our teams heading to the finals. Watch this space.

FAI Soccer Summer Camp

The FAI Rossin Rovers summer camp is due to take place Monday 11th July to Friday 15th July from 10am to 1pm daily. This is for boys and girls aged 6-14 and costs €70.00. Pilates

Pilates classes are on for every level of fitness on Tuesdays and Fridays from 10am to 11am in the Glen Emmets Clubrooms. Classes are on a pay as you go basis and cost €10. Attend 8 classes and the 9th is free. Contact Dee on 087-6798795 for further details or to book your spot.

Gaelic4Mothers & Others

Fancy the chance of getting out, getting active, and maybe even reliving some of those former glory days! Gaelic4Mothers & Others is a way of introducing mothers and other women to playing ladies Gaelic football. Gaelic4Mothers & others encourages women to play ladies Gaelic football in a fun, non-competitive and social environment, while it’s also an opportunity for women to get their recommended weekly exercise in a fun way while meeting other mums in the area. ‘Away Jersey’ Competition Up and Running

The popular ‘Away Jersey’ competition for the Glen Emmets is taking place again this year and entries are flooding in from all parts of the country and world. All you have to do is take a photo of you or your child in a Glen Emmets Jersey from any part of the world and send to pro.glenemmets@gmail.com with the name, location, and any other relevant details.

The winner gets some GAA gear, it’s all a bit of fun and it’s great to see all the Emmets represented all over the world.

Glen Emmets All Stars Club Program

The Glen Emmets are delighted to be starting their All Stars Club Program this Saturday, June 25th at 10am. This is for children of all abilities and aimed at Children from Tullyallen and the surrounding areas for fun activities in a safe environment. If your child is aged 5-12 years old and you wish to take part, please contact Sue on 086-0758945 to register. Or if you can help out by being a volunteer, please reach out.

COVID Boosters

If you are looking for a Covid vaccine or booster jab our pharmacy in the village can help you. You can apply on https://fivestarpharmacy.ie/vaccines/ It must be 3 months since your last vaccine for adults and for under 15’s it must be 6 months since your last vaccine to be eligible for the booster jab.

The pharmacy is trying their hardest to have regular vaccine clinics in store and really appreciate everyone’s patience.
