St. Fechin’s GAA

YES, they did it. The Senior Hurlers retained their County Title and the Paddy Kelly Cup for a second year running with a very impressive victory over Knockbridge in the Championship final held in Dunleer . The final score was 2-16 to 2-08 with both St. Fechin’s goals coming in the first 10 minutes. Although Knockbridge fought hard, St. Fechin’s kept right in there to the finish as well as Peter Fortune being awarded Man of the Match. Congratulations lads. There was disappointment for the U15 Hurlers who unfortunately were beaten by Knockbridge in their final which preceded the Senior Final, but they should be proud of themselves for getting to the final. Well done to the Senior Ladies who had a one point victory over St. Pats in Round 7 of the League. St. Fechin’s Men’s team gave Cooley the runaround with a 1-17 to 0-07 victory. Great to see the younger teams still active as the U8 Girls played teams from Glen Emmets and Dundalk Gaels and showed great displays of skill and teamwork. There was plenty of delight expressed when the Louth U14 Camogie team had a great win and won the Mairead Meehan Cup. Five St. Fechin’s Girls, Julia, Ruby Sunshine, Niamh, Saoirse and Louth Captain Caoimhe were part of that great victory. Gaelic 4 Mothers & Others and Dads & Lads teams are enjoying their weekly sessions and are also getting to play against other teams. St Fechins will run a Fun Sports Camp from August 16th to 19th in Páirc Naomh Feichín.The cost is €40 with discounts for additional family members, This Fun Sports Camp is open to everyone , members and non members, aged 6 to 12 years. Bookings can only be made online on the link below and places are limited so it is advisable to book now to avoid disappointment. Louth GAA Louth Ladies LGFA Louth Camogie Sandpit National School https://member.clubforce.com/memberships_cart_m.asp... Social Walking continues for the summer months. Buzzing for Sunflowers

A field of Sunflowers just inside the entrance to Seapoint Golf Club is certainly attracting a lot of attention. Grown by Jimmy Kirwant, the Sunflowers are an absolute vision to behold. Let us hope that our little honey producers appreciate what is there for them and the rest of us as well.

No Swim Notice

Concern was expressed locally when Louth County Council placed a No Swimming Notice on Seapoint Beach. The Do Not Swim notice was put in place because of pollution due to possible agricultural land run off. However the notice was only in place for four days and the water quality was monitored during that time. Hopefully there will be no re-occurrence of this as our beach is a vital and major attraction to visitors.
