St. Fechin’s GAA

A week of mixed fortunes for the various St. Fechin’s teams. The Lory Meagher Cup Final in Croke Park where Louth took on Longford was by all accounts a great game and Louth having settled into the game went into cruise control and dominated the game. The presence of some St. Fechin’s players on the team was a great boost for the Club with some of them getting scores on the scoreboard. A great win, well done lads.

The Senior Ladies enjoyed a Winter League Quarter Final win against Kilkerley Emmets and also a victory against St. Patrick’s which has earned them a place in the Winter League final. The team also gave a great send off to Hazel Haughney who is heading off to Australia. Her presence will certainly be missed on the team and all in St. Fechin’s send their best wishes with you Hazel. The U10 Boys enjoyed victories over St. Nicholas’s and The Westerns. The U11 Girls were victorious over Mattock Rangers and the U7s had their first Inter-County Blitz in Darver and faced teams from Stabannon, Kilkerley and Young Irelanders. There was disappointment for St. Fechin’s against Naomh Martins in Division 5 of the League, the U16 Girls in their game against Hunterstown/Stabannon in Division 2 of the League and also for the Junior Ladies in their match against Cooley Kickhams in Round 6 of the League. St. Fechins U12 Girls took on a team from Collon in Round 3 of the Camogie League but despite their loss, put up a great battle to the end. The Club Shop will be open this Wednesday from 7 to 8pm. The St. Fechin’s All Stars continues on Saturday mornings for all Primary School children with additional needs and is proving to be very popular. Gaelic 4 Mothers & Others continues on Tuesday evenings from 8-9pm. Social football for Dads and Lads is on Monday evenings from 8.15 to 9.15pm. Registrations are being taken for the St. Fechin’s inaugural Half Marathon on July 17th.
