Mary Duff is amazing

Mary Duff is an amazing lady and long may her star shine on the local and world music stage. Tonmy Leddy retired from the TLT last week and a special show was held in his honour and one of those to take part was Mary. She performed immaculately and afterwards met with all her fans–all masked up and no hand shaking of course.

Mary told me it will probably be March before she hits the road again but she has spent the past number of months singing at mass in Lobinstown–at this rate she’ll be as famous as Paddy Meade. I wonder could they perform a duet and she might even perform Paddy’s campaign song if he ever stood for the Dail!

Delight for Dromin u/15s

There were great scenes at the recent Dromin United under 15s presentation night. The team is a great example of friendship and no doubt they were delighted to be back enjoying te season again.

Justin and Selina Callaghan came along and did the presentations and the Player of the Year was named as Robert Mathews.

Players player of the Year was Cormac McArdle and the Clubman of the Year turned out to be a double delight for Cormac McArdle and Eoghan McCabe. Most Improved Players of the Year were named as Luke Mcardle Lynch, Oisin Prout, Paidi McCabe and Conor Dunne. Top Goal scorer for the season was Brendan Cassidy.

The team enjoyed the occasion, helped a lot by the pizza, sandwiches, biscuits and drinks.Warren Matthews was also there to take the pictures.

Smith Brothers sponsored t-shirts for the team too.

Pamela’s works of art

A walk along the railway line is probably one of the best ways to spend an hour or two in Ardee and when Dermot is not working his magic, others are doing their bit.

One of the latest is works by Pamela Higgins. She has produced images of animals as feeding stations and they are dotted all over the area.

Dermot duly gave her the height of praise. “Your work is overwhelming, we love them and they are a credit to you, thanks for all your work feeding the birds and making these little gems ,” he remarked. Here, here.
