Farrell Furniture go for award
The Irish Business Design Challenge (IBDC) is open to all micro, small and medium enterprises in Ireland that have designed sustainable products, services, or strategies that have benefitted their customers, communities and the environment at large.
Sustainable design seeks to create opportunities for positive impacts on the environment, reducing the consumption of non-renewable resources, minimising waste, and creating healthy, productive environments.
Local firm Farrell Furniture (Farrell Brothers Ardee Ltd) have been nominated for the awards.
It all started over 60 years ago. Founded in 1961 by brothers Ollie and Paddy Farrell in the shed of their family home, Farrell is now in its third generation, working on some of the most ambitious commercial and residential projects across Ireland and the UK. Starting as a passion between two brothers and now run by their sons Paul and Brendan, the team extends to 130+ designers and crafters with a common goal – to do things right for customers, partners and collaborators.
Today, Farrell is a full-service furniture solutions partner leading in innovation and design for build-to-rent, commercial office, student accommodation and contract residential spaces. They design, manufacture, supply and fit all of their furniture, building flexibility into offerings. Solutions can be fully customised to meet your needs. As a family business they are passionate about the power of the personal touch.
‘Do More With Less’ - a study of circular furniture processes and business models in Ireland was the theme of their entry.
‘Making Furniture Work Better’. Our tagline is not just about making furniture work better, it’s about making furniture work better for the environment, for people and for the planet.
“I have 5 grandchildren, I want their grandchildren to have a planet to play in” Paul Farrell Joint-CEO stated.
