To celebrate Heritage week Ardcath/Clonalvy Heritage Society will host a talk given by local historian Frances Lee Gargan this Sunday 14th August at 3pm. The talk will take place at Battramstown Mill Clonalvy. Lecture will cover the history of the mill and nearby Battramstown House.

St. Vincent’s Windfall Draw

Results for 2nd August. Numbers drawn were 04-16-20. There was no winner of the jackpot. Entries for the monthly draw were: Kathleen Andrews & Timmy Fitzgerald Jackpot this week will be €6,200.

Well-Oiled Wheelers

The mission for this local club is to promote: Inclusion, wellbeing, positive memories, and fitness to all members and the wider community.

Whether you are a novice, returning cyclist, or just want to meet new positive people the WOW’s welcomes you. They meet on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings. New members always welcome.

Ardcath Tidy Towns

Wildflowers have been planted at the High Cross (Welsh’s Cross) and work continues on the weeding and planting of the village and surrounding areas. Volunteers are always welcome and now that summer holidays are on the horizon, perhaps some of the younger folk can get involved in the work.

Back to School Government Support

School Transport Ticket: Anyone who has applied for and receives a school transport ticket for the academic year 2022/23 will not be charged a fee for their school bus ticket this year. This will provide families with savings of up to €500 on the cost of tickets.

Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance: Is being increased by €100 for each eligible child under the scheme. Consequently, the amount being paid for each qualified child aged 4 – 11 years will be €260 and the rate payable for each eligible child aged 12 and over will be €385. This is a one-off measure for 2022 to assist families with back to school costs in the current year.

Bus to Knock

The bus to Knock on Thursday the 11th August has been cancelled and will go on Thursday 18th August instead. With the steep increase in the cost of fuel the return fare could be between €30 and €35, depending on the numbers going. If interested, contact Ann on 086-3131708.

Yoga

Outdoor yoga classes take place in Sage and Stone again this summer, every Wednesday at 11am. Open to all ages, this beginner yoga class will get you limbered up for summer.€5 payable to Andrea O’Grady the Yoga/Pilates teacher. Bring your mat with you, chairs will be provided for those who want them.

Croagh Patrick

Interested in participating in a pilgrimage to the holy Reek from Duleek and Donore Parishes, please keep Saturday 20th August free and book your seat on the bus by contacting Caroline at the Parish office.Even if you may not be able to do much climbing you are welcome to come along and join with us.

St. Mary’s Church Julianstown

We would like to ask parishioners if you see any unwanted activity in the Car park in St. Mary’s Church to please contact the Gardai in Laytown on 041-9813320. We have already had to repair damage caused to the Church because of the actions of some individuals. Any group/activity who wish to use the car park must get permission from the Parish via the Diocesan Property Commission.

Julianstown Tidy Towns

The volunteers are continuing their work in and around the village and you can at last see the changes being made. It’s a lot of work for our Volunteers and if you can help by cleaning the kerbs, it would be greatly appreciated. If you would like to give a hand, please meet in the garden at 10.30 am any Tuesday or Saturday morning. It’s good fun, you learn lots about gardening and enjoy a cuppa with your friends and neighbours. A big ‘Go raibh maith agat’ to our volunteers and those on the East Meath Community Employment Scheme – you are making such a difference to our beautiful village of Julianstown.

Give Blood Locally

The blood transfusion service reminds us that many patients in hospitals need our blood and this need never ceases. Help ensure essential blood supplies are always available by giving blood regularly. The opportunity to give blood will arise at St. Patrick’s G.F.C., Stamullen, on Thursday 18th August from 3.45pm to 8pm.
