U10 Camogie

Our U10 girls travelled to Kilmoyley Saturday morning to play Ballyduff, Killarney and Causeway. The girls are improving with each week and it was great to see skill and determination on display as the girls fought to the end for every ball. Thank you to all the parents and players who travelled and many thanks to Cillard for hosting a great morning of Camogie.

U12 Camogie

Both of our 12 teams were in action on Monday evening in the County league, against each other! Both teams played very well and battled until the final whistle. The Amber team can be very proud of their display and got their reward by getting the final score of the game. A big well done to Abbey Crowley (Blue team) and Amy O Mahony (Amber team) who were both awarded the most improved players for mid-season.

U13 Hurling

Our under 13 boys put in a very strong performance on Friday evening against Ballyheigue in the final round of phase two of the U13 county leauge. The boys worked very hard from start to finish and were fully deserving of the win. Well done boys.

U14 Camogie

The Blue team, played in a very enjoyable, competitive game against CillArd last Tuesday evening at home in Caherslee in round two of the county league.

Parnells played with the wind in the first half and had a comfortable lead at half time. They displayed their typical good work rate throughout the field and held out for a win of the narrowest one point margin.

Well done girls, keep up the good work and admirable work rate. Their round three match will take will be against Killarney at home on June 21st

Congratulations to the Kerry Camogie team and to our own Katie O Dwyer and Ciara Maloney as Kerry had another win by defeating Dublin by the narrowest of margins in round 3 of the Intermediate championship. Final score 0-11 to 1-7.

Cork City Marathon

The Cork City Marathon returned on Sunday of the bank Holiday weekend and the club was well represented. With the hard training done over the past few months it was over the county bounds and into Cork city.

Welcomed with torrential rain the BTR gang proudly wore their club gear and headed to the start line.

The marathon started at 8.30 and so began the 26.2 mile run around Cork City.

First home for the BTR club was Aidan Dinger Leen followed very closely by Kevin Roche, Jack Moriarty was next to reach the finish line, then in quick succession came Liam Horan, Ciara O Callaghan, Tom Foley, Rita Ryan, John Counihan and Anna Stack.

There was great excitement when after checking the results that Kevin, Jack and Rita all achieved the qualifying time to enter the Boston Marathon, a huge achievement for them and the club.

Anila Mucaj ran a very impressive half marathon in testing conditions while Richard O Connor and Jackie Treanor both took part in the marathon as part of relay teams.

A huge congratulations to all.

And while all these club members were running , the support crew of Kathleen Curtin and Helen Twomey braved the elements to make sure all the club members were all OK out on the course.

Medals were earned and a great sense of achievement was felt by all on returning back to the Kingdom knowing the months of consistent training had paid off.

The sea of orange was also seen out in the Spa for the Donal Walsh 6k run on the 29th, not to be underestimated there is a nice incline for the runners to endure but as always everyone got over it to receive their well earned medals at the finish line. It was another great event with beautiful weather and afterwards a lovely get together hosted by Louise and her family. As we look to the weeks ahead we plan for the upcoming 10 miler hosted by BTR

It is 10 years since Born to Run Tralee marathon club was set up and so the 2nd run of the race series will celebrate with a 10 mile run on July 10th at 10am.
