Twenty-two of our U11 boys made the trip to Páirc Uí Chaoimh last Thursday for the Munster U11 Go Games blitz. It was a fantastic day out for all the boys. We played four games against Nemo Rangers, Galtee Gaels, Doneraile and Bride Rovers. The venue and occasion inspired our lads as we played some of the best football all season with some great passing and score taking when in possession and superb tackling and work rate when we hadn’t the ball. After the games, the lads got a stadium tour from Cork senior footballer Rory McGuire where he was posed with some interesting questions from a bunch of proud young Kerry men. Let just say the current location of Sam Maguire was referred to on a few occasions!!
A food stop in Killarney rounded off what was a great day for the lads. Huge thanks to coaches John, Brian and Joe for Co-ordinating the trip and for parents Aidan and John in assisting with crowd control! The boys were also grateful of the great support we had from the parents and families of the players. We had no training this Sunday to give everyone a break for the bank holiday weekend. The U11 Central Region is due to start this coming Thursday. At the time of these notes being drafted, we have yet to receive fixtures, but these will be circulated on the WhatsApp group as soon as we receive them. Keep up the practice at home and we will see you all on Thursday.

St Brendan’s Minors played North Kerry on last Monday Night, St Brendan’s played very well unfortunately the North Kerry side was too strong. St Brendan’s Minors continue their campaign in the Minor Football Championship Round 3 in Blennerville on Monday night 1st of August at 7pm against Rathmore.
Our seniors began their Kerry Petroleum Junior Premier Club Championship in horrible conditions, this game was quick from the very beginning. We had points from Luke Mulligan, Brendan Poff, David O Callaghan, and Jordan Conway. Churchill scored five points when the ball would not stay in St Pats hands. A superb goal from Gary Savage which stunned the Churchill goalkeeper as it hit the back of the net. Half time score St Pats 1-04 Churchill 0-05
With conditions deteriorating further as the second half opened, Churchill scored a point and goal within a few minutes of the start. Paudie Bailey stepped up to take St Pats free which sailed over the bar. Churchill led and added two more points, with the weather not in our favor and players trying hard to hold on to the ball. David O Callaghan added his own point with windy conditions causing its own problems. With the clock ticking down Kieran Hurley added two of his own points to draw the game. St Pats 0-08 Churchill 0-08
Our Round 1 backgame against Ardfert is scheduled to take place on Tuesday 2nd of August in Blennerville at 7.30pm.
To Mr. Leon and Mrs. Evelyn O Donoghue on their wedding day at the weekend.
The club would like to extend its sympathy to the families and friends of John Moynihan, Camp and Angela Fitzgibbon, Camp and formerly St Brendan’s Park, Tralee.
Our under 7’s experienced a slight change to schedule last week as they took to the pitch for training on Tuesday evening in Caherslee. Fortunately, the weather was with us as was the enthusiasm of our young players and an enjoyable training session was had by all. Congratulations to this week’s players of the week, Cian O’Carroll and Oran Hegarthy. Well done boys. U12 Camogie Our U12 Blue team had their best performance of the season so far against Cillard on Wednesday evening in Caherslee. All of the hard work and training is really paying off. Many thanks to Cillard for a very sporting game. Well done to both teams.
On Tuesday of last week it was the turn of Tralee Parnells to host Causeway in the Junior Camogie League. It was a baptism of fire in the first half for our squad who are missing some players and also in need of more regular training as a team. We were tight on numbers and trying to fill gaps from those unavailable, plus the lack of training together came against us big time.
However, the players didn’t give up and after getting a much needed breather at half time, they started the second half in brilliant form, with our new player Ciara O’Shea bolstering the back line. The battling Parnells side ended up winning the second half, scoring 9 points, plus Labhaoise was unlucky to have a ball scrambled off the goal line.
If we had not gone so far behind in the first half, who knows how it would have turned out. It goes to show there is serious potential in this squad if we can get everybody back and get into a routine of training regularly.
Over to the players now, to start driving the training schedule. On a related note, we wish a speedy recovery to team member Chloe and hope to see you back in a Parnells jersey soon. Players on the night: Jessica O’Loughlin, Rachael O’Sullivan, Ciara Casey, Labhaoise Mansfield, Nóra Cadogan, Saoirse Maloney, Alice O’Connell, Róise O’Donnell, Ella Breen, Eugenie Kerins, Ciara Moloney, Katie Dwyer, Shauna Harris, Gráinne Leahy, Ciara O’Shea.
There are still some places available on our club Cúl Camp which runs from Monday 8th to Friday 12th August at Caherslee GAA grounds. Go to https://www.kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie/booking to secure your place. Congratulations
Huge congratulations to Tralee Parnells own Kirby Anne Ryan who is back available to play with our Camogie minors, now as holder of double All-Ireland trophies. Kirby Anne won All-Ireland gold in both discus and shot put, representing Tralee Harriers AC, at the Irish Life Health National Juvenile Track and Field Championships in Tullamore on July 3rd. Athletics Ireland reported that the U19 shot put competition saw an outstanding round of consistent throws from Kirby Anne Ryan (Tralee Harriers AC) who took gold with a best throw of 10.19m. Well done Kirby Anne, from all at Tralee Parnells.
Best wishes to our adult Camogie player Chloe Sweeney, who is enjoying a very well deserved sun holiday, following her unfortunate recent involvement in a car accident. No better way to get some rest, recreation and heat to help the aches and pains, sounds like just what the doctor ordered. We look forward to seeing you back in a Tralee Parnells jersey very soon Chloe.
The Club will hold a Buster fundraiser on Saturday the 13th of August in Kingdom greyhound track. We are asking members and friends to purchase a Ticket for the Race Night.
