Dr. Crokes 1-11; Austin Stacks 2-10.

With the home side on second spot on the League table and ourselves in third position going into this postponed round 6 game of the Co. League at Lewis Road on a sunny, summers Friday evening (27th May) it was bound to be a well contested affair, and so it turned out to be. The sides were level at half time (1-6 each) and in the second half both sides had five scores each, the difference being all Crokes scores were points while one of our five scores was a Seán Quilter goal in the 42nd minute.

All our eighteen players played brilliantly with our defenders keeping an always dangerous Crokes forward line under control. Gearóid Fitzgerlad opened the scoring inside the second minute and then the lead changed hands on seven different occasions before the break. Apart from Cian Purcell who put over a long-distant point in the 15th minute all our other scores came from Seán Quilter. Three of his four points came from play with his goal coming from a well-taken 25th minute penalty.

Seán was again our chief scorer in the second half scoring 1-2 of our 1-4 scores our other two points coming from Gearóid Fitzgerald and a well-taken Conor Horan free. Sean, of course, was the Celsius Mensware Man of the Match.

We now understand that our next Co. League game is a round 9 game away to Ballymac on the w/e of the 12th June with our round 8 game at home to O’Rahillys on Saturday, 18th June at 7pm..

U12 Girls

U12 Co League Div 3 - Austin Stacks V Kilcummin. Well done to our A team last Friday night on a very good performance v Kilcummin in our 3rd game of the county league. This was a very tight game that could have gone either way in the final quarter but unfortunately, we came out on the wrong side of the score board. The spirit that this team has to never give up was very obvious again last Friday night. Division 3 this year will be very competitive but with two wins already under our belt we are still in a great position with many games left to play. Each girl played their part and can hold their heads high despite the result. We are all excited to bounce back with another victory this Wednesday night . Final score Austin Stacks 2-10 Kilcummin 4-09.

This week in Div 3 we are away V Glenflesk at 7.15pm on Wednesday June 1st and in Div 6 our B team will be home V Spa Killarney at 7pm this Tuesday evening (May 31st).

Hard luck to the Balloonagh team especially to the Austin Stacks girls involved - all Rockie team mates on another day.

U15 boys

Hard luck to our lads who lost out to St Senans in the county league Div 4 shield final last Wednesday. The teams were evenly matched for the first half with St Senans ahead at the break by 2-8 to 2-5.

Na Gaeil stated the second half well and reduced the deficit to a single point. However from there on St Senans dominated and went on to win convincingly by 6-14 to 3-8. Congratulations to them. Next up for our lads will be the Central Region competition which has been fixed to start on Wednesday 8th June.

U17 boys

Despite losing their final game in the Central Region Div 4 competition last Monday night our U17 lads are into a semi-final versus Sneem/Derrynane/Tuosist.
