It is rare for an A6 greyhound to be going around in 28.66 but punters who took even-money about Fahan Rebel knew they would be collecting once the traps went up

Ventry might not be a doggy stronghold in West Kerry, or Gallarus either, but Eric Prestage and Michael Baker from those respective areas certainly know how to maximise the doggy talent with which they are associated and, as owner and trainer respectively, they scored a terrific victory with Fahan Rebel in the final of an A6 525 sweepstake (winner, €800) at the Oakview venue on Saturday night.

The breeding was there, of course (Ballymac Best out of Dysert Anna) and, indeed, Fahan Rebel’s litter brother, Coolboy Rusty, had scored a great victory in the final of the John and Mary Killeacle Dowling Memorial 570 Sweepstake on April 23.
