European titles for Tralee showjumper

THE current junior showjumping champion of Ireland John Nolan, (16), from Knockawaddra, Tralee again cleared the board scooping two first places and a fourth place at the European showjumping Championships held outside Paris recently.

Nolan , who is a third year student at Tralee CBS, trains under Galway trainer Ralph Conway at the family's yard in Casleisland, and has been riding ponies since he was four. Last May he rode for the Irish team in the European Showjumping Championships in France and was placed every day in the competition.

"We are very proud of John's wins at the weekend," said his father Liam.

"No one in Kerry has ever done as well on the showjumping circuit. At the moment John is in training for the RDS qualifiers in the next two weeks and we are hoping he will sail through if all goes right. John is down to represent the whole of Europe at The European Championships this year which will either take place in the UK or Holland," Mr Nolan added.
