Back to back winners for Ballyduff trainer Houlihan

A week after his stud dog, Cashen Legend, sired the winner of the GMHD Juvenile Classic in Paradise Marco, Ballyduff man, Chris Houlihan, was sending out his own winners, as trainer, at Tralee Track on Friday night.

He won the ninth race (A1 525) with Cashen Hunter, sired by none other than Cashen Legend, and he immediately followed up by winning the tenth race (A2 525) with Unleashthebeast, which is English-owned.

Cashen Hunter was sent off the 5/4 favourite from a trap 2 draw and, with some great runs to his credit and having taken on the brilliant Aulton Jet last time out at Curraheen Park, it was anticipated that he would lead the charge to the first bend, which he did.

Send It Jay challenged him well into the third bend, but it was Southwind Nina which made a battle of it to the line, with Cashen Hunter prevailing by a neck in 29.13 (.20 slow), which proved to be the fastest time of the night for the standard trip.

Unleashthebeast, which ran from trap 5, completed the double by sweeping into the lead around the third bend and then seeing off the challenge of the strong-finishing Lenas Cindy by a length in 29.29 (.20 slow).

Local trainer, Michael J Reidy, won the third race (S7 325) with Lispole Tiny in 18.29 (.10 slow) and his grandson, Stephen Reidy, was the agent for Shlowdown Bob, which flew home to win the eighth race (A2 570) by a head in 31.71 (.20 slow), to make it a nice double for a local family steeped in the doggy game.

Other winners: Ballyhar Lyric, 17.91; Farran Buzz, 29.46; Bearhaven Aliza, 29.83; Rathanny Mojo, 29.45; Astra Flame, 29.45; Missing Minutes, 18.00.
