Mary Jo Curran inducted into Ladies Hall of Fame

KERRY football legend Mary Jo Curran will be honoured with the 2013 Hall of Fame award at the 2013 TG4 All Star awards at the Citywest Hotel on November 9, at which the Hall of Fame and Young Players of the Year awards will also be presented.

Mary Jo is unique in ladies football as she has won 10 Senior All-Ireland titles with Kerry and she has matched that achievement with 10 All Star awards.

Her performances at centre forward and midfield for Kerry during their golden age between 1982 and 1993 were a major factor in helping Kerry to win 11 All-Ireland titles including an unprecedented nine in a row.

Mary Jo is still hugely involved in ladies football with her club, Beaufort, and she is involved as part of the backroom team for the Kerry Senior ladies football team.

Speaking about the awards, LGFA President Pat Quill said "I am delighted that Mary Jo Curran is this year's recipient of the Hall of Fame Award. She is one of the best players that I have ever seen play and continues to be an inspiration to players in Kerry as a coach."

The 2013 TG4 Ladies Football All Star awards will take place at the Citywest Hotel on November 9 where the best 15 players from the 40th All Ireland Championship season will be honoured.

Kerry have six nominations in Caroline Kelly, Cáit Lynch, Aoife Lyons, Bernie Breen, Sarah Houlihan and Louise Ní Muircheartaigh.
