Ballyduff rearranged their personnel and it began to pay dividends firstly Darragh Goulding got them off the mark with a point before Liam Boyle cut through the Ballylongford defence and drove a powerful shot to the net, Darragh Goulding added a further two points while Aidan Boyle got the vital touch to a high ball into the square which now left them three ahead with five minutes remaining in the half.
Ballylongford weren't without their chances of being closer to their opponents, but several moves broke down and Ballyduff countered and tacked on three more points to leave them six ahead at the break - Ballyduff 2-6 Ballylongford 1-3.
The second half resumed with Ballylongford minus the influential James Cahilane and Seanie Kennelly denting their chances of closing the gap.
Ballyduff suffered the same malaise as Ballylongford in the opening stages of the half missing some good scoring opportunities giving their opponents a chance to claw their way back into the game and John Neville reduced the deficit to five with a fine point from an acute angle but their scores were coming too slow and John Paul Leahy restored their advantage to six with a point in the 14th minute.
Bryan Murphy kicked a further three points for Ballylongford, but Ballyduff were always replying and points from Chris Whyte and the energetic Philip Lucid kept them on course for the cup.
