When Croke Park are looking to get their inter-county season up and running with something a little spicy, something with box-office appeal, they so often turn to the Kingdom. On the opening weekend of the National League, Kerry have regularly been part of the headline fixture.

Quite a lot of the time that’s been a clash with the reigning All Ireland champions – mostly Dublin over the last decade or so – but on this occasion it’s the Kingdom’s clash with a freshly promoted side that’s the stand-out.
