Tralee/St Brendan’s Senior League Semi Final

On Friday night last in glorious Sunshine Ballymacelligott hosted Churchill in the Tralee/St Brendan’s semi-final.

Despite scoring five goals and dominating a lot of the game Ballymac lost to Churchill in this high-scoring and entertaining game.

Churchill was in the lead by two points with fifteen minutes gone in the first half. The halftime score was 1-05 to 1-06.

The second half was a cracker with Ballymac scoring four more goals and five points. The final score was Ballymac 5-10 Churchill 4-16.

We wish Churchill every success in the final. Thanks to everyone who supported our lotto on the night.

Kerry Senior Teams

Ladies: Hard luck to our Kerry Ladies and their management on their defeat yesterday against Cork,

Men: Well done to the Kerry Senior team and management on their victory yesterday in the Munster Final against Limerick in Killarney.

Kerry Minor Team: Best of luck to Niall Collins who is part of the Kerry Minor Panel who will travel to Páirc Ui Rinn in Cork to play Cork in the 2022 Electric Ireland Munster Minor Football Championship Final on Wednesday at 7.30pm.

Everyone in Ballymac will be cheering ye on lads.

Supporters bus

The Club are running a bus to the Munster Minor Final Wednesday evening in Pairc Uí Rinn to support our own Niall Collins and the Kerry Minor Team.

The bus will be leaving the club grounds at 5pm. Anyone interested in traveling will need to purchase a match ticket themselves. Ticket details will be on the Kerry Gaa website. Cost of the bus will depend on numbers, but will be no more than €20 per head.

Under 13s

The Ballymacelligott U13 blue team took to the field today in blistering heat to play fossa at home.

A slightly one-sided affair with the Ballymacelligott team coming out on top on a score-line of 5-14 to 2-10.

Our U13 gold team also took to the field this evening in what was a more competitive match against Fossa. Final score 2-18 to 2-07.

Well done to all the boys who put in a great effort, playing their hearts out in very hot conditions.

Under 11s

U11 Phase 2 Football Go Games

Our under 11s phase 2 Go Games begin next Thursday 2/6/22. Ballymac will play Milltown/Castlemaine at home at 6.30pm


Our U5 academy players were blessed with another beautiful Sunday for our training session this week. We spent the hour practising our hand passes, soloing and agility, with our more experienced players playing a fast and furious mini game.

Ladies Notes

Wonderful night had by all at the LGFA pub quiz on Friday night. Thanks to Mary Jones and all the wonderful staff at O Riadas for hosting the event and for the donation. Thanks to Fionnán Fitzgerald for doing a super job as MC! Well done to the winners James Flatherty, Dave Allman, Michael Bolger, Ruairi Rahilly and Olivia Rahilly.




Beale seniors travel to Fossa for the next round game in the County League, Division 4, on Saturday evening. Throw in at 7 o’clock. We await details of our rescheduled game with Keel.

We are delighted to host our annual Golf Classic on the Cashen Course at Ballybunion Golf Club on Bank Holiday Monday, June 6th. For a great day out on this superb course, anyone interested in playing should contact John Hennessy on (087) 9237368. Teams of four may play but no mixed team. Official GUI handicap applies.

The numbers drawn on Sunday night for this week’s Beale Lotto were 18, 21, 27 and 28. There was no jackpot winner and one Match-3 winner, Seamas Maloney, who wins €100.

Next week’s jackpot is €3,900. Draw takes place on Bank Holiday Monday night in Kilcooly’s at 9 o’clock. Ticket €2 each or 3 for a fiver. To be in with a chance of winning our lotto, get your weekly tickets in Joyce’s Newsagents or in the local pubs.

SENIOR: This was a break week for the team who are currently mid-table in the county league. The action resumes on Friday 3rd of June with an away trip to Moyvane. Throw in is at 7:30pm

U15: The build-up to an exciting Féile weekend has been ongoing! The action starts Saturday morning in Mallow at 11am with Castlehaven of Cork first up. This is followed by Western Gaels of Clare at 1pm and finally Monagea of Limerick at 2:30pm. This is a wonderful opportunity of the boys to represent the club and county in a very sought-after competition! To mark the occasion, the lads have been kitted out with tops, pants, socks, shorts and gear bags. A huge thank you to McCarthys Bar Finuge, Maurice Lyons Heat & Plumbing, JJ Walsh Meats, Cronins Cider, Tom Kelly Scaffolding, Stacks Londis, Lixnaw GAA and Brownes Agri Contractors for their very generous sponsorship. U13: Round two of phase II in the county league saw the lads play St Senans. Our boys were much too strong and came away winners on the scoreline Finuge 5-14 to St Senans 0-04. Next up will be Listowel in 2 weeks’ time.

U11: Phase II of the county Go Games starts this week. The team are at home to Beale on Thursday evening, throw in 6:30.

U9: Coming up will be games with Listowel Emmets next week. Meantime training continues on Wednesday evenings.

U7: Next up for the mighty U7s is an away trip to Beale - enjoy the experience of representing your club boys & girls!

CLUB FUNDRAISER: Important notice - Finuge GAA have decided to extend the draw date for the car raffle fundraiser. The new draw date is the 1st of October. Have you bought your tickets yet? The main aim of our fundraiser is to provide facilities into the future for our young boys and girls. KERRY TEAMS: Well done to the Kerry Senior footballers on securing another Munster title. Best of luck to the Kerry hurlers this weekend in the final of the Joe McDonagh cup especially our lads involved - Shane, Conor and Martin! The Kerry minor footballers will play Cork this Wednesday in the Munster Final at Pairc Ui Rinn - good luck to them. Unfortunately, the Kerry Senior ladies came up short against Cork in the Munster Final, however the U14 ladies won their All Ireland Final with a win over Cork in an exciting game.



Kilmoyley National school: A huge congratulations to the boys and girls who represented Scoil Naomh Eirc last Thursday in the Kerry Primary Schools Hurling Skills competition. The boys team came in 1st place and will now go forward to Munster, with Tadhg coming 2nd in the boys individual competition and Aoibhinn came 3rd in the girls individual competition. Well done everyone.Kilmoyley juvenile clubOur budding u7s were away in Ballyheigue on Friday evening. An enjoyable evening was had by all with some great hurling on display! Keep up the good work!

The U11’s meanwhile were away to Ballyduff in the latest round of the Go Games series with some lovely hurling on display.

The U13’s also had a good win against Ballyduff in phase 2 of the County League, Division 1 with the game finishing on a scoreline of 2:09 to 2:06.

Senior County championship: The draw for the Garvey’s SHC took place on Thursday and sees Kilmoyley facing Abbeydorney and Dr. Crokes in Group 2. Group 1 features St. Brendans, Ballyduff and Causeway while Group 3 is made up of Crotta O’Neills, Lixnaw and Ballyheigue.

Joe McDonagh Cup final: It’s a huge weekend for Kerry hurling as the Kerry senior hurlers play Antrim in the final of the Joe McDonagh at Croke park on Saturday at 7pm. This is Kerry’s third final in a row and following their recent victory over Antrim there is a greater hope that the Kingdom can pull off a famous victory despite injuries to Daniel Collins and Flor McCarthy. Best of luck to captain Paudie O’Connor and to brother Maurice who will line out and safe travelling to all supporters heading to the game.

Camogie: Well done to the Kerry camogie senior team who defeated Laois by 2-15 to 1-13 in the first round of the All-Ireland Intermediate championship on Saturday. Kerry are away to Carlow in round 2 this Saturday at Dr. Cullen park.



Results and Fixtures: The Under 11 Community Games team defeated a St. Brendans/Kilmoyley combination last week and will play Ballyduff in the final on this Monday evening at 7pm.

The Under 13 team defeated Tralee Parnells on last Tuesday evening. Training will continue as usual for the Under 7, Under 9, Under 11 and Under 13 panels this week. Lucy and Thady were the Under 7 players of the week while Jack Óg was Under 9 player of the week with Ethan and Ritchie the Under 11 award winners.

The minor team was defeated by Tralee Parnells on Sunday evening in the County league semi final which was played at Hermitage Park. The teams were level at 0-13 each at the end of the game but Parnells eventually prevailed by 2-16 to 0-17 after having been level at half time in extra time. Congratulations to Julie Anne O’Keeffe and Kate Buckley who lined out with the Kerry Camogie team who defeated Laois by 2-15 to 1-13 in the Intermediate championship game played Hermitage Park on Saturday.

We would like to wish Martin, Conor and Shane as well as all the players and team management the best of luck when they play Antrim in the Joe McDonagh Cup final at Croke Park on Saturday at 5pm. It was a treat to see them fine tune their preparations for the final in Hermitage Park on Sunday morning.

The draw for the senior hurling championship took place last week which resulted in Lixnaw joining Crotta O Neills and Ballyheigue in Group 3 of the competition.

The Willy Wonka Golden Ticket draw will take place this week with Thursday, June 2nd being the last day to present the final ‘Golden Ticket’ for the fine prizes on offer for the winners.

Congratulations to Shane Conway who won €118 in the Split the Bucket draw on Friday evening.

U9s Match: Our U9s played Listowel last Tuesday evening in Tarbert and served up two fantastic games of football. The future of Tarbert football is bright with these boys and girls. Well done to the coaches involved also.

U11s Fixture: U11s are at home to Gneeveguilla on Thursday evening 2nd June. Best of luck to all the players and coaches.

U13s County League Phase 2 Result: Kerins O Rahillys 1-06, Tarbert 5-12. Well done to our U13s footballers who gave a fantastic performance against Kerins O Rahillys in Tralee in Sunday 29th May. In very warm conditions our boys led at half time by a scoreline of Tarbert 1-10, Kerins O Rahillys 1-04. A terrific 2nd half from Tarbert meant they secured a vital win against the Tralee side. U17s North Kerry League Fixture: Our U17s play Northern Gaels in Ballylongford in the North Kerry League on Monday 30th May. Best of luck to our boys.

Tarbert Comprehensive School: Congratulations to Tarbert Comprehensive School Senior Girls Football Team, who were winners of the County B Senior Shield. Included in this team are Tarberts Ava Horan, Ava Walsh, Leanne Flaherty, Catriona Leahy, Amy White and Ornaith Wall.

Congratulations also to the Tarbert Comprehensive Junior Girls Football Team who won the County B Shield Final last Tuesday in Knockanure against Presentation School Listowel on an impressive scoreline of 5-11 to 0-2. Tarbert players were Katie O’Donnell and Catriona Leahy.

County Senior Football League Division 4 Fixture: Tarbert are at home to Cordal next Saturday evening 4th June at 7pm.

County Boys Skills Competition Winners: After recently winning the North Kerry title, huge congratulations to Tarberts Gavin Denihan, Ryan Browne and Dylan Buckley who won the Kerry County Boys Skills Competition in Austin Stacks Park Tralee last Wednesday 25th May. The boys now represent Kerry in the Munster competition to be held in June. Thanks to the Kerry GDAs who hosted a fantastic event in Tralee and to John Dillion, North Kerry GDA, who does tremendous work with all our juvenile footballers in North Kerry. Well done boys.
