Austin Stacks launch race night for pitch
AUSTIN Stacks GAA club are preparing for a huge fundraising night at the dogs next month with the money raised to go towards the purchase of a new playing and training field.
The Tralee club has long had close links with Kerry's greyhound racing scene and the links between the GAA club and the county's dog racing community will be strengthened further with a night of top class racing and family fun at the Kingdom Greyhound Stadium on Friday May 23.
Club Chairman Aidan O'Connor said funds from the event will go towards developing facilities for the club's ever growing membership.
"Funds from this great event will go towards the purchase of the Nuns field on which we have recently made our first down payment. We need everyone's support for what will be a great social night," he said.
"Catering for huge numbers of juvenile players in particular, the Rock is a substantial community enterprise which needs top class facilities to cater for its ever growing membership," he added.
Stacks stalwart Kieran Donaghy is also urging everyone to come out and support the night. The Star highlighted the fun had every week by hundreds of young boys and girls in the black and amber.
"The club is doing a top class job for the youth of the town, and I would appeal to anyone interested in the Stacks, the GAA as a whole or the future of the youth of Tralee to please help us in this venture," he said.
Tickets are available from club members.
