Senior County Championship

Well done to East Kerry especially Glenflesk players Daniel O Brien, Chris O Donoghue, Patrick Darcy, Marc Kelliher, Killian O Sullivan, Darragh Roche and Mentor Seamus Moynihan winning the second round of the County Championship in Killarney last Saturday. Our players all putting in great performances on the night.

Minor Club Football 2022 B Shield Final.

Ballyduff 6 -- 10 Glenflesk 2 -- 11 In a final where animosity was never far from the scene, Ballyduff have beaten Glenflesk in the B Shield Minor Competition, in a match where only 26 players were left on the field at the end. It was the North Kerry side who got off to the quicker start, with Callum Sheedy and Bobby Wood finding the target early, with only a great save from Liam O Donoghue denying Jack Enright a goal. Wood then fisted in a short 45 to the net, and it got worse for Glenflesk when Evan Boyle fisted home their second goal. Glenflesk needed a response quickly. It arrived when Darragh O Connell found the net with a low finish. It started a rush of scores for Glenflesk, with Callum Cronin, 2 more O Connell points, and James Kelly superb point, got them right back into the game, trailing only by a point at the break. There were already some signs though that discipline was close to breaking during the first 30 minute’s. Glenflesk once again started the second half slowly, with Enright’s speculative shot ending up in the net. Boyle grabbed his second goal almost straight away, and once again Glenflesk were facing another mountain. Then the fracas threatened finally happened. Jamie Moynihan was stopped with a high tackle, which led to Con Fitzsimons getting his marching orders. After another melee, James Kelly and Ryan O Rourke followed him. Cillian Murphy followed soon after. When Cronin somehow found the net with a low shot and Moynihan pointed straight after, Glenflesk were right back in it, and had 2 extra men on the field. From here Ballyduff were brutally efficient and ruthless. Jake Segal goal was added to by points from Boyle and Enright. At every kickout and free at least 1 of their players collapsed to the floor, and they took an age to retrieve the ball from behind the goal. Professional tactics that lead them to victory, with Boyle adding another goal at the death. Credit to Ballyduff on their victory, using perfect tactics to combat a 2 man disadvantage. Glenflesk didn’t use their extra men to any great effect. Nevertheless they have again performed heroically the last 3 weeks, and must now refocus for the upcoming East Kerry Championship. Regrouping from disappointments is part of sport, and I fully expect this team to come out flying again in a couple of weeks. They will want to finish the year strong, and learn from today’s tough result and match.

Molyneaux Cup Final

Dr Crokes B 3-10 Glenflesk B 1-12 Hard luck to our B team who put up a spirited fight last Friday in Spa against Dr Crokes. This was a great exciting game with a lot of our young players putting in good performances.
