KILFLYNN

Enchanted Festival

The Kilflynn Enchanted Fairy festival returns after a two-year beak on the 25th and 26th of June.

Saturday night a magical parade will take place where the treasure chest holding the Kilflynn Enchanted map will come through the village guarded by the knights and the fairies will create a spell on stage to create hundreds of maps so you can all enjoy the trail on the Sunday.

Sunday morning the trail will open at 11am and all visiting magical humans will be sprinkled with fairy dust so that they can see the fairy houses and enjoy a beautiful enchanted magical fairy trail.

As well as fairies there will be puppet shows, ice cream and delicious food stalls, crafts stalls, face painting and so much more so bring a picnic and dress up for a truly magical experience.

Tickets on sale now online through Eventbrite for €8 plus booking fee or at the gate on the day for €10-under 2s go free.

Calling all unwanted teddies in need of a new home! The teddy’s bear doctors station at the Kilflynn Enchanted Fairy festival will rehome them.

Kilfeighney cemetery mass will take place on Tuesday 28th June at 7.30p.m and mass will be celebrated in Kyrie Eleison, on Tuesday 5th July 8.00 p.m. and in St. Mary’s, Kilflynn, on Wednesday 6th July at 8.00 p.m. and in Killahan Cemetery, Wednesday 13th July at 8.00 p.m.

Community Care Lotto

There was no winner of the €10,000 jackpot for the 13th of June 2022. The numbers drawn by John Fitzgerald were 7,21,28,29. The €50 winner was Kathy M Curran, Lerrig and the two €30 winners were Phil Corridon, Kilmoyley and Megan Maunsell, Lerrig.

Pony club

Congratulations to Aoibhinn O’Driscoll who was a member of the Kingdom queens team that came in first place in the girl’s section of the National Minimus Competition. Aoibhinn also came in 6th place in the overall girl’s section - what a fantastic achievement. Well done also to Laura Collins for all her hard work training the kids, making this success possible.

Split the Bucket

The winner of our split the bucket draw on Friday evening was Mary O’Donoghue with a jackpot of €148. The envelope was drawn by James Godley. The next draw will be held on Friday, July 1st. Thank you for your continued support of our juvenile club.

Camogie Cillard

Our Junior team having a well deserved evening in The Oyster Tavern Kerry. Thanks to Jim McGrath and his staff for looking after the girls so well, giving them a well deserved celebration of their achievements. Thanks to Ian Brick, Kerry Camogie Manager for presenting the medals to the players from their 2021 County Camogie Championship and County League wins. An amazing achievement and historical moment for the Club and team considering it was Cillard’s first year to have a Junior team. We are so proud of these girls for their commitment and character to show younger players in our club what can be accomplished by playing camogie and the great friends/memories that are made. Many thanks to all players, mentors and Committee who made this happen. Also, a presentation of a framed picture of Cillard Junior teams first ever match was made to Nuala representing the club by Steve Baker. Many thanks to Steve for the great support you give the club. The future is bright - Cillard Abú.

Athletics

The 2022 Energywise Ireland Banna Run will be held on Sunday, August 31st. There will be 10K and 5K events for adults and a special 5K events for 13-19 year old juveniles. Entry is via MyRunResults.com and the portal is open now.

St Brendan’s AC had another good weekend at the older age-group Munster juvenile championships in MTU Cork on Saturday and Sunday. Eoin Malik got a silver in the U15 javelin and a bronze in the U15 long jump. Aaron Horgan got silver in the 3K walk while Peter O’Mahony got a bronze in the U16 hurdles. A number of PBs and good performances were achieved by these and the other club athletes who enjoyed provincial competition.

A good number of the club’s adults participated in the Ballyheigue 10K and half marathon on Saturday in what was a very enjoyable occasion with Margaret Carlin having a very successful run.

Training: Adult training on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7pm. Check social media for venues. Juveniles are now on a break from training except for national qualifiers.

Upcoming events - This Saturday and Sunday: Kerry Community Games Athletics Finals in An Ríocht track. Good luck to all club athletes involved.

Memorial

A Memorial and Thanksgiving Mass for Fr. Kevin will take place on Sunday 26th June at 2pm at Moyvane Church, at the Doorway of Hope (weather permitting) in memory of the Covid Masses. After Mass a plaque will be unveiled in his honour. Everybody very welcome. Mass in thanksgiving for Fr. Kevin’s life will take place on Wednesday 29th June at 7.30pm in St. Agatha’s Church, Glenflesk.

Best wishes on her 102nd Birthday to Nora Lynch, (nee Flaherty) from Glasha, Athea, and born at Knockanure. Family and friends Celebrated the occasion at Athea on June 11.

DEATH has taken place of Sr. Borgia Shanahan, late of Knockane, Listowel, Presentation in Milltown and Killarney on June 13th 2022. Predeceased by her sisters; Sr. Malachy (Presentation Sisters Rathmore), Teresa Moore (Dublin) and her brothers Joe and Jack Shanahan. Sadly missed by her Presentation Community, her nieces Helen Roche, Emer Kelly and Michelle Shanahan, nephews Gerard Moore, Brendan and Patrick Shanahan, relatives and many friends.
