Health and Wellbeing Committee

The Health and Wellbeing Committee invited the Cill Dubh Girl-guides for an afternoon of learning at our training field. Thanks to Sylvia Thompson for introducing us to lots of native wildflowers, trees and biodiversity. We hope to begin a biodiversity garden going forward.

We are in the process of planning a Memory Garden at the training pitch. Anyone with an interest in gardening or who would like to get involved is most welcome. Contact Oonagh 087-7532949.

Well done to Kerry on winning their 38th All Ireland Final. Congratulations to all the Management Team and Players, especially Paudie and David Clifford, and their maternal family the O’Shea here in Ballymac, and their grandfather Patrick O’Shea.

Bridget Leen who has 10 All Ireland Medals and Sean Hennessy Chairman of our Ladies Club, conducted the lotto draw last Monday night. Maureen O=92Shea was on camera.

Kerry LGFA

What a talented group of players. This band of dedicated sport stars gave everything to their All Ireland Final on Sunday.

Sadly, a stronger Meath side prevailed on the day. We are proud of LGFA Kerry’s achievements this year. Thank you for continuing to inspire us.

Wedding bells

Tom Fitzgerald, our resident Physiotherapist, and Rebecca Sunderland (Aberdeen) got married in style in Scotland recently. Tom didn’t let the occasion distract him from his football duties and he was back in the Tangerine and White without delay for Brosna’s last league game.Conor Kiely and Chloe Hogan (Limerick) tied the knot in a stylish wedding in Brosna recently the weekend. The black-tie event was a glamorous occasion. Congratulations to the happy couple. Wishing you a life of joy.

Birthday celebrations

Congratulations to a very fresh faced Donie Downey who reached a milestone birthday at the weekend. Joining his family and friends, we wish Donie many more such happy celebrations.


Camp Youth Club

Camp Youth Club hope to reopen in the autumn on Friday nights at the Community Centre. If your secondary school child is interested in joining Camp Youth Club please text parent/guardian name and number and the child’s name to Sabrena - 089 2026321.

We need volunteers to assist in the running of the club nights. Training will be provided by the KDYS.

Golf President Event

Castlegregory Golf and Fishing Club Lady President Teresa Rice held a very successful and enjoyable Presidents Day on Friday last at the Golf Club. It was a great year for Teresa and she was delighted to present the Presidents Prize to Joan Cantillonat a dinner later that evening. Congratulations Teresa and Joan. Go n-éiri libh, Teresa and Joan, may you enjoy continued success in golfing.


Congratulations to Denis O Shea, Killelton and Kaitriina Kuuma from Estonia on their marriage at St. Marys Church, Camp on Friday, 22nd July. Fr. Eamonn Mulvihill officiated. It was a very stylish wedding and Katriina, the beautiful bride looked fabulous on her wedding day. Afterwards a wonderful reception was enjoyed by family and friends at The Rose Hotel, Tralee. And the party continued at The Junction Bar, Camp on Saturday night. May Denis and Katriina enjoy a long life, blessed with good health and great happiness.

Maharees Heritage and Conservation

Congratulations to Martha Farrell on her excellent interview on RTE1 News on Tuesday evening on the occasion of the visit of Minister Malcolm Noonan T.D to the Maharees. Minister Noonan was there for the release of 500 Natterjack toadlets to the area which were captive reared in Fota Wildlife Park. Well done Martha and all Maharees Heritage and Conservation team. You are doing great work.

Ciarraí Abú

Kerry Ladies - Luck was not on their side on Sunday and Meath won the All Ireland. Congratulations to Meath.Kerry can be justifiably proud of a great year, well done to all. Beidh lá eile.


Club rooms

Building Work progressing well in the Club Rooms. Kitchen fitting started & toilets almost completed. Awaiting for more equipment from suppliers so no definite date for reopening yet. Whist every Thursday the West end Hall from 8pm.

Tidy Towns

Weekly evening Tidy Towns work Tuesdays at 7 pm to 8:15 pm to weed, cut hedges, repair and generally improve our village. All are welcome. Meeting at the playground. Please bring your own equipment: gloves, secateurs, brushes, brush pans, buckets, shovels, trowels, safety vests, etc. Rubbish bags will be supplied. If you don’t have equipment please let us know and we will ask some of our regular volunteers if they can bring spares. We will have some extra safety vests and gloves but these are in short supply. For now we will go out every Tuesday evening, and Thursday evenings where applicable. Please watch notifications on our Facebook page or contact the office for more information.

Castlegregory Summer Market

The summer market is on every Sunday morning until the end of August. Come and browse through our many delights, you might see something that you like, looking forward to seeing you there.

Summer Bridge

Summer Bridge in Castlegregory: Tuesdays at 7.45 pm in the West End Hall until the 3rd week in August. All are welcome! It doesn’t matter at what level you are playing; there is always something new to be learned and there are always people willing to teach! Each session will last approximately 2 hours. St. Mary’s Camp

There is no longer a Sunday Mass at 12 noon. -- Mass is a Vigil Mass on every second Saturday @ 6.15pm. (it alternates with St. Brendan’s Cloghane). Please check the weekly parish newsletters to know exact dates for these Masses.

Sam Maguire

Duagh was very well represented in Croke Park on Sunday last for the tremendous win by Kerry. The local GAA club reported heavy demand for tickets. Hopefully ‘Sam’ will visit the parish in the near future.


Congratulations to local vet Liam Dennehy Foildarrig on winning the Nolan Sweepstake at Tralee Greyhound Track on Friday night last with his greyhound Denville Paudie.

Graveyard Mass

It was great to see the Graveyard Mass return after a three-year hiatus. Thanks to everybody who turned up. Thanks to Fr. Declan, Fr, Tom, Fr. Jack and Fr. Tim for their presence on the night. Thanks to all those who assisted us in preparing for the Mass and who took on roles and responsibilities on the night. A special word of thanks to Eoin Stack for providing the shuttle bus service which is great in helping us keep the scarce parking slots for those who really need it.

Tidy Towns

The Duagh Tidy Towns group is doing some great work around the village. The entrance and exits to the village are adorned with flowers and shrubs. Relaxation seats have been erected at the Listowel entrance and also in the village centre. Also a beautiful flower bed has been built at the Listowel end, Well done, keep up the good work.

Duagh GAA

Duagh met Finuge at the weekend in Duagh in the County junior championship. The teams finished level Duagh 0-14 Finuge 1-11. Next up next weekend is an away game to Kilgarvan also in the County Junior Championship. The GAA would like to advise that no dogs loose or on a leash are allowed on the Duagh GAA premises.

Duagh/Lyre Community Games

Community Games Marathon

Dreams do come true and this was the case for Duagh/Lyre Community Games participants Noelle and James Dillon. Twins Noelle and James are no strangers to Community Games and athletics and in this event we saw them both qualify for National finals in Sept in the 7km Marathon. James put up a great battle from start to finish with a whisker separating him and the winner, James won silver in such an exciting race.

Noelle went one better winning gold and ran extremely well and is really coming into herself with running. This was the moment both of them have waited for and what a way to end their last year in Community Games in Kerry.

Congratulations we are so delighted for you and so proud of you, its true patience is a virtue and it’s paid off. Thanks to Kerry Community Games for a well-run event in Currow.

Wedding congratulations

Congratulations to our Children’s officer Aoife O’Malley who got married to Duagh man Denis O’Keeffe we wish you both a lifetime of happiness together.

Regional finals

Last Saturday at Lee’s Rd., Ennis the Regional finals of Community Games were held. The weather held off for the majority of the day which assisted with the great atmosphere there on the day. Duagh/Lyre had five participants wearing the Kerry singlet having qualified from the County athletics finals in An Riocht in June.

First up on the day was Saoirse Dillon in the u16 100m, this race was a straight final. Saoirse off from the whistle ran superbly and with great confidence, won comfortably securing a place in National Finals. Congratulations Saoirse we are delighted for you and I’m sure you had a special person looking down on you from above giving you the biggest cheer. Next up was Eimear Buckley in the U16 200m semi-final.

Eimear ran a fantastic and secured second and a place in the final. In the final Eimear ran well and was in the mix for the medals however ended up fifth and just outside the medals. Well done Eimear we are so proud of you.

In the u16 boys 200m we had Oisín O’Regan running a powerful race in stiff competition finishing third and securing a place in National Finals in Carlow. Congratulations Oisín we are delighted for you and wish you good luck at Nationals.

In the late afternoon after a heavy shower of rain we had twins Noelle and James Dillon running in the u16 1,500m. Noelle finished a strong third and in the space of two weeks has qualified for National finals on Aug 13th in Carlow. Noelle is having a fantastic running year. Twin James ran an exceptional race in a very competitive field ending up in 6th position and having a great run. Well done James we are so proud of you and your efforts.

We now have three athletes joining our two participants through for National Finals in Carlow. Well done everyone.
