Date for your diaries ladies, Friday July 8th at 7pm. We at Checkers Cafe Ballybunion, are teaming up again with Nuala from Blossom Boutique in Listowel, for a night of food, drinks and fashion. The night includes an arrival drink of prosecco, or soft drink. Then a shared tapas board or pizza and a bottle of wine or beers per couple for €25 each. Nuala and the girls display several outfits throughout the evening. This will be our fifth fashion evening, and is always a very relaxed and enjoyable event, which takes place in our beautiful outdoors covered in area . Triathlon Club

Club open water swim every Monday evening at 7.15pm on the Men’s Beach. If you’ve ever thought about Triathlon, come down meet the gang and meet Coach Rob and gain confidence, distance and have some fun too.

Tinteán Theatre

Nathan Carter and his Band hit Ballybunion for two night of what is expected to be one of the best weekends planned for Ballybunion in a long while. Nathan Carter is a sensation! Nathan plays this weekend the 1st and 2nd July. Tickets are sold out for the Saturday night and Friday nights tickets are available from www.tintean.ie

Cemetery Masses

The Annual Graveyard Mass will take place at Killehenny Cemetery on 15th July at 7pm, Kilconly Cemetery 29th July at 7pm. Committees ask if family members would tidy up family graves before Masses.

Cashen Vale Boxing Club

Come along to our club in Sandhill Road Ballybunion every Saturday at 12 Noon, every Wednesday at 6.30 pm. The classes are open to all young people aged 10+ who would like to learn the fundamentals of boxing, with or without the intention to eventually compete. Enjoy a Boxing Taster Session every Saturday from 12 noon in the Cashen Vale Club at the Irish College Ballybunion. A fully equipped training Centre with Bags, Gloves and a Ring, also pad-work, sparring, and circuits. Learn at your own pace in a friendly supportive atmosphere. Ballybunion Community Market

Calling all Food Producers, our Community market will commence again for the summer season soon and we would like to add more food producers to the market. If you make Kimchi or Kombucha or Keifir, if you make vegan or gluten free items, if you make sea salt or cheese or sourdough. We need local food products that are made in Ireland. Ballybunion Arts Festival 2022

Meals on Wheels

The Ballybunion meals on wheels service will be delivered 3 days a week, meals will be delivered on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Anyone wishing to avail of delivery please contact Eileen Fogarty on 086 2234 965 or Con McCarthy on 087 418 4241. The areas covered are Ballybunion, Lisselton, Asdee and Ballylongford. The dinner will be delivered to your door by one of the men at the cost of €6 per meal

BPM appeal

The BPM committee is actively seeking material for the 2022 edition of your Parish Magazine, ie. articles for all competitions, Maurice Walsh Creative Writing, Johnnie Bambury Poetry, Marie Kennelly Photographic. Also, any information and/or photos on the Civil War 1922/23. Photos of family occasions , both at home and abroad are very welcome. Any Frank Snaps images are very valuable in documenting the photographic history of North Kerry. Finally, fashion photos of Listowel races, both past and present, will be much appreciated.

Parish Office

The Parish Office at the Presbytery is open every Friday, 9.45am–1.45pm. Anniversary masses, etc can be arranged.

Deaths

The death has occurred of Betty Brown (née Griffin, Banna, Ardfert), Dromlought. Betty, who was well-known and liked in the community, for her sound, balanced approach to everything she was involved in in the parish down through the years.

Betty’s popularity was evident at the large attendance as she lay in repose at Gleasure’s Funeral Home on Thursday last and again at Mass on Friday in St John’s Church, Ballybunion and burial in Gale Cemetery. Sympathy is extended to her daughters, Norma, Denise, Catriona and Joanne and to their families, to her two sisters and seven brothers and to their extended families, her neighbours and friends.

Betty was predeceased by her husband, Mick (Dec 2021), her sisters, Anna and Breda and her brothers, Vincent and Brendan. Sympathy is extended to Aoife and Martin Foley and family, Moybella, on the death of Aoife’s uncle, Mossie Kelliher, Tralee and formerly, Listowel. May they rest in peace.

Lotto Draw

The results of the Ballyduff GAA Club/Lady’s Walk Hurling Club and Ballyduff Community Games Weekly Lotto draw for Tuesday June 21st are as follows; the numbers drawn were 9, 10, 12 and the bonus number was 10. There was no winner of the Lotto Jackpot of €14,900 or the €400 match 3 prizes. The €20 prize-winners were David Slattery, Glounerdalive; Sonny Dee, Ardoughter; Darragh/Eoin Carey. The Lotto Draw takes place each Tuesday night at the GAA Clubrooms and tickets cost €2.50 each, with a minimum play of €5, and you must pick three numbers from 1 28 and a Bonus number from 1 10. The Jackpot starts at €10,000 and there is €100 added to it weekly if not won. There is a weekly Match 3 prize of €400 for anyone that matches the first 3 numbers without the bonus number. Covid 19: We are noticing that at Communion time at Masses, Parishioners seem to be reverting to the old system when approaching the Altar. We are asking you to please refrain from this practice and to continue to observe the rules implemented at the beginning of the Pandemic i.e., using the one-way system. Covid has not gone away so please acknowledge this request to help us protect you and keep our Churches safe and open.

Tidy Towns

Volunteers wanted to help our local Tidy Town group. We meet every Wednesday in the square at 11.00am. Our hanging baskets and tubs have been placed along the street , a big thank you to all the residents who water and look after the flowers. We are also very grateful to all the people who supported our stand during the recent horse fair.

GAA Lotto

Ballyheigue GAA lotto draw was held at the GAA Clubroom last Tuesday the 21st of June. The winning numbers were 10, 11, 13, 24 . There was no winner of the jackpot. The winning tickets for the €25 prize drawn were Leanna Roche and Tracey Cashman. The third ticket out was for Anthony Dineen and will be entered into the special Summer bonus draw. The jackpot will be € 4,700 next week. Ballyheigue GAA lotto is now available online on PLAY.CLUBFORCE.COM. The online system will give the subscriber a number of play options. John Joe O’Sullivan Memorial Lecture

The local History & Heritage Group will host this talk in the White Sands Hotel on Tuesday 5th July at 8.00pm sharp. This year’s theme is: The Struggle for Irish Independence, as reflected in our community. It will be given by Mr Bryan Mac Mahon, who has done original research in this area. Everyone is welcome.

Gaelcholaiste Gleann Doire has returned for 2022 at Bouleenshere National School (due to building works in Glenderry NS) for the week July 11th to 15th.
