ONE of the most popular annual fundraisers in Abbeyfeale returns for the first time since 2019 much to local excitement and dog-grooming-related sales.

Yes, it's the return of the Abbeyfeale Town Park dog show – when owners and their pooches from all over descend on the great local amenity for one of the best canine shows around

Taking place on Sunday, October 3, next at 2pm, it is already seeing frenetic grooming activity across the region as owners prepare to make a show of their beloved pets.

For the Town Park group, whose members care for and maintain the space lovingly year-in, year-out it heralds a great return to normality after a long hiatus; as well as a vital income stream supporting their work in the park.

“We were asked so many times in the last two years when we would be holding our dog show again,” group secretary Gerardine O’Brien said.

"It has been a very tough two years for everyone, and we are promising a great, fun day. We are delighted to be able to offer 12 different categories for judging this year.

"There will be a great raffle with spot prizes galore to be won. Don’t miss out on our family fun day and bring along your dog too.”
