There were scenes of joy and relief all around the town on Tuesday morning as hundreds of students finally got their hands on their long-awaited Leaving Certificate results.

This years results marked a departure from the schedule of previous years with the results date brought forward by a day along with the CAO results which are set to be issued earlier - on Thursday - as well.

Based on the number of students The Kerryman met at local schools it seems that many opted against checking their results online and made the traditional trek to their alma maters to meet up with friends and receive their results envelopes.

It was no surprise that when we arrived up to some students at Mercy Mounthawk, Brookfield College, Gaelcholiste Chiarraí and CBS The Green, that some students were lost for words to describe their joy, excitement and sheer relief that the day had finally come.

Almost 1,800 students from Kerry students received their results on Tuesday morning. Congratulations to all.
