St Brendan's students enjoy sun and snow
THESE lucky students from St Brendan's College took time out in the bright glare of the sun to pose for the camera while on a week-long ski trip to Ehrwald in Austria.
Despite the deep snow, tee-shirts sufficed in the mid-afternoon sunshine. Transition Year student Brian Moynihan (rear left) says the photo was, in fact, taken in Germany.
"The German border was just a few kilometres away and the picture was taken on a nearby German ski resort called Zugspitze," explained Brian, who has been on work experience with us here in The Kerryman.
"This was over 2,000 metres above sea level and we had magnificent scenery all around.
"The weather was immaculate with the sun shining with warm temperatures everyday on the slopes.
"The majority of the students had never skied before so it was a whole new experience. We had two ski lessons a day and after just a few lessons everyone improved greatly from their first day on the skis and we'd all love to do it all again some time," he adds.
Some 20 students in all travelled, accompanied by teachers PJ Lucey and Karen Rice and the trip was organised by business teacher Joanna Ryan.
Meanwhile, a group of eight students from St Brendan's will enjoy a long haul trip of a lifetime later this month when they head off to study for two weeks in Shanghia University. They leave for their trip on April 13.
