Solicitors shortlisted for awards

A KILLORGLIN and Cahersiveen based firm of solicitors has been shortlisted for two awards in this year's Irish Law Awards, dubbed the Irish Oscars of the legal profession.

Healy Crowley Ahern solicitors is nominated in the 'Legal Website of the Year' and 'Munster Law firm of the Year with under five solicitors' categories and the firm is one of just a handful across Ireland to receive nominations in two or more categories.

"We are the first firm in Kerry to have ever been shortlisted for these awards and so we're thrilled with the nominations which are a great testament to the hard work of all the team," Principal of the Firm, Colm Kelly, pictured, said.

The firm launched its website in December 2011 and Mr Kelly says the feedback has been incredible. Indeed, he can take personal pride in the nomination as website terms are just one of the areas the former Fexco in-house solicitor specialises in.

"To obtain a nomination for Legal Website of the Year in this hotly contested category is a fantastic achievement. We are only one of seven law firms in Ireland to have been nominated in this category and the organisers of the awards indicated that it received by far the most entries," Mr Kelly added.

Healy Crowley Ahern solicitors was born of the merger of three practices: JB Healy in Caherciveen, William A Crowley in Killorglin and Michael C Ahern of Killorglin. The firm employs nine people in Mid and South Kerry and the Munster nomination pitches them against the County Cork based firms Holohan Law and McCarthy & Co.

The Irish Law Awards 2014 will be announced at the Four Seasons Hotel in Dublin on Friday, May 2.
