Skellig opens for summer

The Office of Public Works has confirmed that Skellig Michael will open for visitors this Friday, May 24.

The summer visiting season had been due to begin last week, but the OPW said it was forced to delay opening the island due to delays completing necessary pre-season works as a result of bad weather.

The island will remain open daily until September 30, with 15 boatmen granted licenses to bring visitors to the island during the 2019 season.

The OPW od reminding all visitors that a trip to Skellig Michael can be "very challenging" and they should view the safety film on the OPW's website.
