Tributes have been paid for Yvonne O'Flaherty (26) whose tragic death has left a community in deep shock. Yvonne's untimely death happened last Thursday after a brief illness and she was surrounded by her family when she died.

Yvonne, who is originally from Ardfert, lived in Walnut Grove in Killarney where she worked as a wedding co-ordinator for The Gleneagle Hotel Group. There was widespread disbelief at her passing as the news broke among friends and work colleagues.

A popular and much loved person who always lit up company, Yvonne was a finalist in the Lily of Killarney pageant in 2016 - an event she enjoyed as it was an opportunity to engage with people, something she loved dearly.

The Gleneagle Hotel issued a statement shortly after her death expressing their great sadness. "Our dear friend and colleague Yvonne was a valued member of our team for the past three years, who lit up the lobby every day. Nothing was ever too much trouble for Yvonne who was loved by both colleagues and guests alike."

Described as a young woman 'who would not pass you without a smile', The Brehon Hotel also posted a tribute on their Facebook page with a picture capturing Yvonne's radiant smile: "A person that departs from this earth never truly leaves, for they are still alive in our hearts and minds, through us, they live on."

Yvonne was buried in the Abbey Cemetery in her home village of Ardfert on Monday last and is survived by her parents Tim and Marion and sister, Lisa, her grandmother Elizabeth, partner Niall, brother-in-law Luke.
