A Causeway man was reunited with his family on Monday night to the deep relief of the parish after having been missing for the previous five days.

48-year-old Denis Slattery was reunited with his family after he was found alive and well on Monday night at around 10pm, hours after an appeal for information on his whereabouts was carried nationally.

Gardaí had launched an appeal earlier on Monday seeking the public's helping in tracing Mr Slattery, who had been missing from the Clashmealcon East area of Causeway since the previous Wednesday - July 23.

A number of searches were mounted on Monday in and around his home area of Clashmealcon, on the coast north of Causeway village. Gardaí confirmed to The Kerryman that Mr Slattery was located in the Clashmealcon area and taken for medical treatment shortly thereafter before returning to the family home on Monday night, in a happy outcome to the missing person investigation.
