Over €1m granted to Kerry Airport

More than €1million has been granted to Kerry Airport under the Regional Airports Programme, according to Minister of State for Tourism and Sport Brendan Griffin.

The Kerry TD yesterday welcomed news from his Departmental colleague - Minister for Transport, Tourism, and Sport, Shane Ross - that the Farranfore-based airport will receive funding towards operating costs, bringing the airport's total grant for the year to well beyond €1.5million.

The Regional Airports Programme supports safety and security investments at Irish airports and aims to enable them to contribute to regional connectivity for businesses and tourism.

Welcoming the news, Minister Griffin TD said the grant will enhance the airport's importance to the county.
