Three avid Liverpool fans from Killarney are preparing to fly out to Kiev ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League clash with Real Madrid - even though only one of them has a ticket to the match!

Ivan Hurley, Kevin Moynihan and Seán McCarthy are the three fans in question and although only Ivan is lucky enough to have secured a ticket to the final itself, the trio are sure they’ll enjoy the experience none the less.

“We’re flying out on Wednesday week which will be May 23 and then the final is on the Saturday night, May 26,” said Ivan, speaking to The Kerryman on Monday.

“Thankfully I have a ticket, but the other two lads, they said to put out an appeal for two more tickets – if there’s any kind soul out there who wants to donate some. I know that I won’t be giving up my ticket!” Ivan laughed.

Ivan and his two friends are members of the Liverpool Supporters Club in Tralee and Ivan said that it was through this club that he managed to secure the golden ticket to the match.

“It was through Leo Bryne, who is the President of the club in Tralee, that I was lucky enough to get the ticket. I go to a good number of games every year and I’ve been to a good few Champions League games this year as well,” he continued.

“I said to Leo that if any tickets came in for a ballot then to put my name in for it and lo and behold my name came out. I’ll have to fly over to Liverpool between now and next week to collect the ticket, but that’s manageable.” he said.

This will be Ivan’s first time attending any sort of European final and with Liverpool playing with the form they are at the moment, Ivan says that he is confident of a Liverpool victory - albeit a dramatic one.

“I can’t wait to get over there and of course with the team playing so well, that’s an added bonus. They are unbeaten at home this year, their form in the Champions League has been excellent. I’m calling it as 3-2 victory to Liverpool with the winning goal coming between the 80th and 90th minute,” he laughed.
