To mark its 50th anniversary the Tralee Lions Club are hosting a special gathering at the Brogue Inn on Friday.

The event has been organised by the club to thank everyone who has supported the club throughout its long history.

The Tralee Lions club was chartered in 1966 when a group of locals met at Benner's Hotel

"We are made up of a group of people who endeavour to give something back to the community that we live in. Lions goal or motto is to 'Make a Difference' within the community," said Teddy Reynolds "Over the past 50 years close on €900,000 has been raised for worthy local causes we are forever indebted to the local community for their continued support to all our fundraising projects. We in the Lions Club are also proud that 100 per cent of all funds raised from the public go straight back into the community as all administration needs are covered through our membership fees," said Mr Reynolds.

The social night takes place at The Brogue Inn this Friday night from 9pm. Representatives of charities who have worked with the Lions; club supporters and all past members are invited to attend.
