Ladies night for Killarney Vocational School class of '85
IT was a case of 'here come the girls' in Killarney this week as the class of 1985 enjoyed a long awaited reunion.
After getting back in contact via Facebook in recent months the girls from Killarney Vocational School's class of 1985 finally got back together in real life last Tuesday for dinner at the Bricín Restaurant followed by drinks in McSweeney Arms.
"It all started when we saw our class photo up on the Killarney Down Memory Lane facebook page, we started chatting and now we are chatting once a week and catching up.
"Some of the girls haven't seen each other in years so we decided to meet up," Marian O'Brien said.
A total of 10 girls made it on the night including Eileen Griffin who now lives in New York, Doreen Cronin from Wexford and Dolores Kelly and Mary Casey travelled from Cork.
But there was a surprise for fellow classmate Shay Switzer who happened to be passing by the venue when The Kerryman picture was being taken and popped in for posterity.
Such was the success of the evening that plans are already being made for the next big get together in Killarney: "There were about 25 girls in the class in all so we might do another one and see if we can gather a few more. We might even ask the boys but we are making no promises."
