Hash farm was yards from court
BRAZEN drugs lords operated an elaborate drugs factory growing cannabis plants worth an estimated €370,000, just a few yards from Cahersiveen Courthouse.
The growhouse was discovered following a search at 6.30pm on Friday and while gardaí initially estimated the find to be worth in the region of €200,000, that figure has risen considerably this week after the full extent of the professional operation was unearthed.
Searching two adjoining semi-detached premises on Courthouse Lane, gardaí unearthed 460 cannabis plants in varying stages of growth, weighing paraphernalia and highly sophisticated electrical and watering systems.
It's the latest of several cannabis growing operations uncovered in south Kerry in recent years.
No arrests have been made following Friday's discovery and investigations are continuing. The owner of the premises is understood to be from the area. Sgt Michael Quirke said the landlord had been "completely shocked" by the find.
