THE talented young performers from the Tim Landers School for Performing Arts are busy putting the finishing touches on their production of hit musical Hairspray.

The school's production of the comedy musical will be staged this Saturday, April 26, at the Presentation Primary School Hall just off Castle Street and tickets are selling fast for what promises to be a highly entertaining show.

Directed by Tim Landers, with choreography by Tara Dore and choral singing by Maeve Burke, the show tells the tale of Tracy Turnblad and her efforts to get on a US dance TV programme, an appearance on which eventually makes her an overnight celebrity.

Katie Anne Harris will star as Tracy with Barry Sugrue playing her mum, Edna, in a role that is traditionally played by a male actor, while her dad, Wilbur, will be played by TJ Griffin.

The starring roles, all of which are filled by young performers, also include Marcus Nolan, Rebecca Harris, Zoe Riordan, Dion O'Neill and Tess Dowling.

There will be two performances on Saturday, at 3pm and 8pm, and tickets can be booked by calling 083 4056829.
