A fundraising truck run held in Abbeydorney on Sunday afternoon has been hailed as a "great day" out by organisers as they sought to raise much needed funds for 'Childline'.

The truck run, organised by the Abbeydorney Vintage Society saw 91 trucks descending on the village as they travelled to Castleisland, Killarney, Tralee and back to Abbeydorney.

A highlight of the day came back in McElligott's bar where after the hard work of the run was done and drivers could sit back and enjoy a spot of food and a bit of craic, all while Derek from band Crystal Swing provided a few cracking tunes in the background.

It was a great sight to behold on Sunday afternoon as trucks, both modern and vintage took off one by one on the long road, all in aid of a great cause.

There's no word as of yet as to the final amount raised for the charity but keep an eye out on the 'Abbeydorney Vintage-Rally Club' Facebook page for further updates. A list of all the truck award winners is also available on the club's Facebook page.
