Drugs charges for Cahersiveen youths following house searches

Four Cahersiveen men came before Cahersiveen District Court for the unlawful possession of drugs last Thursday, which followed a number of searches by  gardaí on the same day.

Before the court was Daniel O'Connell (19) of Castlequinn, Cahersiveen, who was arrested at 9.40am at Castlequinn on May 9, and brought to Cahersiveen Garda Station, where he was charged with three charges of the unlawful possession of cannabis, cocaine, and diazepam. He was brought to court on the same date.

Also before the court was Patrick Devane (18) of 14 St Joseph's Terrace, Cahersiveen, who was charged with one charge of the unlawful possession of cannabis, valued at €100, at his home address on May 9. 

Two other defendents, Jason O'Sullivan (20) and Daniel O'Sullivan (19) of 25 Fertha Drive were also both charged with the unlawful possession of drugs at their home address on May 9. Daniel O'Sullivan is also facing a chage of obstruction of a garda during the course of their duty.  

Evidence of arrest, charge, and caution was given before Cahersiveen District Court, and all four had their cases adjourned to July 11. 

All four, the court heard, are in receipt of social assistance and were granted legal aid. Solicitor Padraig O'Connell asked for a disclosure order for all cases. There was no objection to bail for any of the four defendents, who will appear again on July 11.
